Lafanter! Any updates yet?
lahol wala kuwat, suzuki is a japanese company
HOLDEN is American-Aussie co op
they are rebadged as chevy lumina, pontiac etc
Basically all ( Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GM Daewoo, GMC, Holden, Hummer, Opel, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn, Vauxhall, and Wuling) of them come under GM.
GM retains various stakes in many different automakers including suzuki
Lafanter! Any updates yet?
Man, i m really low on money, plus goin to pak at the end of december so this project is not in motion.
Except had new set of tyres from Goodyear Assurance and new wind screen soon. Other than that i m planning to sell this car and buy 2006 V8 COMMODORE SS a.k.a LUMINA SS
Its better to spend on some thing worth it.
my this car is 2003 model .. . kinda old.
Dont have any money plus need money for the next sem tution fee as well. . . .lets see how it goes. fingers crossed :)
Car passion and being broke often, goes hand-in-hand. :sighs:
holdens are rebadged suzukis right ?
LMAO!!!
lol no offense but thats like saying Jaguars are re-badged Tata's, and more over I've ..... never ..... really seen a 6.2L (6200cc) 425 bhp V8 Suzuki before though.
most of what Lafanter said is true, Holden is a subsidiary of GM, and so is Suzuki, the Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet Aveo and the Chevrolet Spark are all re-badged Suzuki's, where as Holden Commodore's and Holden Statesman's are re-badged and exported to the Middle east as Chevrolet Lumina's and Caprice's and to China as Holden Lumina's and Caprice's, Holden doesn't import any of its vehicles to the United States except for the Holden Monaro which is sold as re-badged Pontiac GTO (and as Lumina SS Coupe's in the Middle East) and the Pontiac G8 which is the Commodore but....
....as you might know that Pontiac is up for sale along with Saturn and Saab, so when Pontiac is officially sold Holden well automatically stop exporting the Commodore and Monaro to the States as Pontiac will no longer be subsidiary of General Motors.
this whole re-badging this is horribly confusing, I don't know why they do it but I don't like re-badging, and Toyota is the biggest re-badger in the world, lol nearly every single Toyota car is re-badged in some way or the other, the Toyota Aurion are sold as Camry's in China, Toyota Mark X's (my personal favorite Toyota which happens to be a Lexus GS300 from the ground up) is sold as the Reiz in China, infact the Pontiac Vibe is actually a Toyota Matrix.
Europeans don't do re-badging, but they do share there technology though, VW a prime example, the VW Toureg/Audi Q7 share the same Chassis design and body structure with the Porsche Cayenne, the Bentley Continental Flying Spur is basically a more Luxurious and upscale version of the already epic and uber-luxurious VW Phaeton which is also very similar in engineering to the Audi A8, the 5.2 liter V10 found in the Lamborghini Gallardo is basically (even though advertised as a Lamborghini design) the same V10 found in the Audi S6/RS6/S8 and the V10 TDi (Turbo Diesel) originally designed by Audi is also found in the VW Phaeton and the VW Toureg, but Europeans do this just to save money, where as in the American and Japanses Fashion of re-badging I can't see where they're able to save anything, no wonder Ford/GM are nearly bankrupt.

that is a great idea, the SS has enough punch under the hood, if I am not wrong then that 5.7L V8 produces roughly about 385 bhp in stock right?.
true, Automotive Enthusiasm is one of the most expensive hobbies in the world :hinna:

yeah man, lol tell me abt it
adding to that, Mazda use ford engines and ford design them at their german wing, so basically ford's engines are basically german designed and made.
zonda has got merc engine in it. . . . .and .. and ... and there are alot of cars with parts from other manufacturares. Whole industry is kinda dependent on each other, lol

its a 6.0ltr 349HP
You know the driftking Keiichi Tsuchia has a NSX Drift Car. Imagine the risk
but the man is good, and i mean real real good at what he does.

True fact: Lotus Elise has Toyota Celica engine in it.
Re: PROJECT: get away car dream car
Ascari A10 has got BMW’s M5 engine. ![]()

yep true, most of Mazda cars use Ford engines but not the Mazda Wankel "rotary" engines, there is no way Ford could ever design such a complex piece of machinery, as much of a pain the Rotaries are they're always the most fun to drive and the single most powerful selling point in Mazda sports cars like the RX-3, RX-7 (my personal favorite, owning a 2002 RX-7 FD3s Spirit-R would be a dream come true for me) and the currently selling RX-8, Rotary FTW!!!.
as for Ford, yes all there engines now are German made, and so are all Chrysler/Dodge engines, ever wonder how they've all of a sudden become so reliable?, yeah Germans know there stuff!.
lol that 7.3L V12 is such a masterpiece and its so hard to believe its an AMG built engine, I mean the sound it makes is not the usual groaning noise you get from other AMG engines, but this is actually a very old engine, it was actually put in there R129 platform SL that was made in tiny number and was called the SL73 AMG, its been told that most of those SL73's are part of the nearly 5000 cars in the Sultan of Brunei's car collection.
the Ascari A10 uses the 5.0L V8 from the E39 M5, makes me wonder why didn't they go for the 5.2L V10 from the current E60 M5, the current V10 is more Torquier.
Lastly, about the Commodore, I say go for it, Insha Allah you'll never regret it. :)
I am a big fan of Keiichi Tsuchia, he’s such a mighty car controller, but I didn’t know he was using an NSX as his drift car, the last time I checked he was using an office tuned Nissan S15 Sylvia with a stroker SR22DETT Twin Turbo but that was a long time ago, thanks for the update. ![]()
Re: PROJECT: get away car dream car
Yea, Silvias are ideal for Drifting, and he uses that too.
I used to have plenty of dvds of his, i'll see if i can find one, i'll upload and share it with you guys.
His personal recommendation is to learn Drifting on a Toyota Trueno. Because it has a rwd and it has just enough power to learn drifting on.

that would be epic, I'd love to see more of his stuff, lol I do have his "drifting for Beginners" DVD but its all stuff that I know.
its not just his personal but every professional drifter recommendation, the Trueno/AE86 a.k.a Hachi-Roku is an epic car, my uncle use to have one of those as his daily driver back in its hay days, lol back when I was just 6 years old and had no clue to what that cars abilities were, if only I did, I'd have never let him sell his car, thats the only AE86 I've ever seen in Kuwait,
the reason why its such an epic car is the fact that its so light, it weigh less then the first gen. Lotus Elise, which weighs less then a ton, further more the top of the line 1.6L 4A-GEC l4 cylinder GT-S model had 4 valves per cylinder which in 1986 was only found in European exotics like Ferrari and Porsche, the engine was a Twin-Cam Dual Overhead Cam (DOHC) and had good torque at lower revs (100 ft·lbf of torque @ about mid 4000 r.p.m and a little over 110 hp @ mid 6000 r.p.m) and with a weight of less then a 1000 kilos the cars power to weight ratio was more then the original hp ratings plus with an optional LSD (limited slip differential) this car had technology that BMW or Mercedes could only dream of, it was more advanced and sophisticated then a BMW M3 of the same year,
further more the large engine bay meant that it could support an array of modified engines from other cars, engines like the 3S-GTE from the Celica and the 4A-GE, 3A-U, 4A-GZE, 5S-FE and the huge 1MZ-FE (V6) from various different cars like the MR2/MR2 Turbo, you could even fit in the famous 2.0l SR20DET found in the S15, some one did a full 13B (Mazda RX-7, Rotary FTW!) conversion and by far the most interesting swap that I've ever seen on an AE86 is full F20 (Honda S2000 AP1) swap, its a pocket rocket really, the best part about modifying cars is when you see the look on the Ferrari owners face when he get beaten by a car less then 1/4 its price tag, aaahhh yes love traffic light drag races or as Tiff Needell calls it "Traffic Light Gand Prix" :D.
in the end if anyone here who is interested in learning how to drift, the Hachi-Roku is the car for you.
Body damage doesnt look that bad, very solid cars they make
A ford crashed into me from rear traveling at a speed of 60KM/H atleast with 4 big junkie passengers on board while i was stationary waiting to turn right. Then they decided to escape. I chased em to atleast get the rego no and rang the coppers.
My car doesnt look that bad, but it was making very loud squeaking noise at the back while driving . ..so i couldnt drive it for more than few meters…tyres looked ar rite, may be the differential is gone or may be the suspension has got a serious problem. But the other car was totally defaced with bonat folded and radiator all broken and barely hanging .. .lol
But thanks to AAMI’s comprehensive cover, they towed it away to their centre and now i m gonna have to spend atleast a week without my babe. They ll let me know tomorrow how much is the damage and how many days would it take to fix. Good part is all work done is life time guaranteed. ![]()
