There are aspects of Divinity which appear paradoxical or as you stated contradictory, but they are not. The reason why you think they are is either because you are unable to go the mental distance, or unwilling to go the mental distance to realise that.
“Free Will” works because God has presented us with all choices … We are free to choose whatever we wish within the confines of those choices … Since for God the past, present and future are all the same … Then it goes to show that a decision made in our past or present for God is no different to our decisions made in the future.
When we make our choices … The acts of those choices are “created” by God … After we make the intent and place the impetus in our faculties for the acts to commence … We get the illusion as though we are creating the acts … In this way God is inescapable, but at the same time we can be sure we have control over our choices …
