Re: Prince Harry in Afghanistan
Our monarchy is an institute man!!!
All you yanks have is crazy bush!!!!
Atleast bush gets to step down, forcefully by law in november.
What about your "royals?" They seem to using your money for supporting their expensive habits. What exactly is their productive purpose? and why don't they fight for their "posts" like other public servants, through election?

The Royals don't really use taxpayer money. Revenue from the Crown holdings (the inherited land owned by the monarch through conquest in the medieval times) is paid by the Crown to Parliament - over US$340 million per year. The Royal family then receives a fraction of the money back to cover the Queen's expenses.
Costs incurred by the Royal family while carrying out government duties (diplomatic visits, state openings, etc) are paid for by the taxpayer, just as taxpayers pay for any government expenses.
All other Royal costs are paid for from the revenue generated from the Royal family's private land, which is separate from government land. The Royal family and the Crown are historically the biggest landowners in the UK - they make quite enough money to support themselves without dipping into taxpayer money.
While it is often said that taxpayers pay £37.4 million for the Royal, this ignores the £170 million that the crown pays to the government in revenue from it own holdings. The crown gained this land through entirely legal means historically - the government has no more right to claim this land as they have the right to claim the land of any other landowner in the country.
Re: Prince Harry in Afghanistan
That answers several questions. A few more follow ups then:
Is there a place i can find the dollar amounts you listed?
Since they are not elected officials, doesn't it deter the point of a democratic system when they go out and "represent" uk in foreign countries? Its basically self appointed ambassadors no?
Also, I know they own a gigantic amount of land all over the UK...something enough to make a sizeable country out of. Besides that, doesn't that one single royal family own other major things in the country? Like mail for example.
I honestly think you are omitting some details. Googles gives out too many numbers and accusations on the matter, which is why I am pondering.
Re: Prince Harry in Afghanistan
Also, there are laws about offending the royal family. I mean seriously, why the special treatment?! And apparently they actually hold some power in the government too.
It really seems like rich families in Pakistan. Except the richest family in England is formally recognized as royal.
Re: Prince Harry in Afghanistan
It is very unlikely he will ever be King, unless Prince William happens to have no kids.
Also it wasn't his idea to be removed from Afghanistan. If you read his interviews he would still rather be their than here but he had to be removed for his own safety and the safety of the other soldiers who were with him.
So one can conclude these:
1) Only colleagues of Prince were in danger, in other words prince Harry has endangered the life of the entire batalian.
2) Was this Danger born overnight, i mean didn;t the high command knew that he can be potential threat to his colleagues before depolying him there..
3) Is Prince Harry a better human then other British Soldiers serving/dying in Afghanistan, or it is just that his grand ma is a queen.
4) Last but not least, in earlier days, Prince use to command the army or atleast stays with the army to boost the morale of the unit/army.. but these days have changed, Prince's life is more important then anyone else in the world, can any one tell me why???
