Presidential hopeful General Wesley Clark says US plans to attack seven Muslim state

US plans to attack seven Muslim states

Presidential hopeful General Wesley Clark says the White House devised a five-year plan after the 9/11 strikes to attack seven majority-Muslim countries.

A former commander of NATO’s forces in Europe, Clark claims he met a senior military officer in Washington in November 2001 who told him the Bush administration was planning to attack Iraq first before taking action against Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Iran, Somalia and Sudan.

The general’s allegations surface in a new book, The Clark Critique, excerpts from which appear in the latest edition of the US magazine Newsweek.

Clark says after the 11 September 2001 attacks, many Bush administration officials seemed determined to move against Iraq, invoking the idea of state sponsorship of terrorism, “even though there was no evidence of Iraqi sponsorship of 9/11 whatsoever”.

Ousting Saddam Hussein promised concrete, visible action, the general writes, dismissing it as a “Cold War approach”.

Clark criticises the plan to attack the seven states, saying it targeted the wrong countries, ignored the “real sources of terrorists”, and failed to achieve “the greater force of international law” that would bring wider global support.

He also condemns George Bush’s notorious Axis of Evil speech made during his 2002 State of the Union address. “There were no obvious connections between Iraq, Iran, and North Korea,” says Clark.

Clark’s culprits

The former NATO commander acknowledges Iranian and Syrian support for resistance groups such as Lebanon’s Hizb Allah and the Palestinian movement Hamas.

“But neither Hezbollah [sic] nor Hamas were targeting Americans,” he writes. “Why not build international power against Al Qaeda?”

Instead, Clark points the finger at what he calls “the real sources of terrorists - US allies in the region like Egypt, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia”.

Clark blames Egypt’s “repressive policies”, Pakistan’s “corruption and poverty, as well as Saudi Arabia’s “radical ideology and direct funding” for creating a pool of angry young men who became “terrorists”.

Comment:

The truth is now coming out straight from the horses mouth. The US is an imperialistic nation which has ambitions upon Islamic Lands. Attrocities like 9/11 are used to justify their illigal occuaption of Iraq and Afganistan, oh and WMD’s as well, but no-one is fooled by this argument anymore.

well good for the US.. whatchooo or these 'Muslim' nations gonna do about it??

Nations threatened with bombings and most likely thousands of deaths and all you can do is start mocking!

I wonder if you would be so arrogant if you and your family was faced with a B 52 bomber above your house!

No one has threaten to bomb any country.

Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Iran, Somalia and Sudan.
I counted 8 here.

hope wesley clark keeps being a royal failure.

bara aya pakistan ko kehne wala!

All of you who are jumping on to this, did you read what Clark said?

At least Bush is not attacking Pakistan unlike what this Clark guy may do.

What a moron... Down with Clark... Go Edwards!

What did he say to Pakistan? I am sorry I must have missed it paying too much attention to Dean & Kerry.

I must say Edwards has to looks but I know too well these white boys from the south.

:bism: Peace Be Upon You!

But will the U.S. occupy Pakistan with their military forces and say the reason they are doing so is lack of cooperation from the Pakstian army and police forces to capture Al Qaeda and Taliban operatives in unchecked guerilla warfare, that is possible, maybe? The seven nations to be attacked would be: Iran, Lebanon, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, and The Sudan, perhaps Nigeria which is oil-rich and mostly Muslim? Also, consider Indonesia which has what the U.S. wants and the Faith-Based Evangelical televangelists like 700 Club’s Rev. Pat Robertson and Trinity Broadcasting Network and Rev. Jerry Falwell have strongly criticised Indonesia for their so-called persecution of Christians. Both Falwell and Robertson have defamed The Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him, and called Muslims radical Islamic terrorists. All you need to do is tune into these U.S. channels to hear and see them spout hatred against Islam! Their goal is to force conversions to Judeo-Christianity and make them consumers of U.S. manufactured products. Sad to say, this is the goal of the evangelical televangelists who love and support the State of Israel and this is what major U.S. corporations want, to exploit and rob others in what they term as undeveloped or under-developed third world nations. :frowning: Sarge Booker

US can hardly deal with 20 million Iraqis without begging every Tom Dick and Harry. Itching a fight with 150M bad Pakis armed with nukes and missiles will be for sure the end of US terrorism in the region.

Good thing the two are allies then :)

I dont see Clark advocating an attack on pakistan by any means. I think what he is stating is truth. isn't that something many of us nto said on this very board in the past ..i.e. the poverty in pakistan is a cause of extremism. poverty and corruption close doors of opportunity, education, etc for the masses who then turn to whatever they can find, and with many ppl saying its not your fault but someone else's u have extremists made right there.

what did Clark say that was not on the mark here?

it would be interesting to compare the ratio of arms bearing Iraqis to the total population with Pakistanis.. I think the Iraqis probably are armed more on a personal level than Pakistanis..

one very interesting thing to note.. Iraqis had guns.. no true dictator allows guns .. it's a direct threat to his regime.. Saddam was hence a strange kinda dictator.. where he sorta enjoyed that public support despite being a tyrant.

Fraudz... so are you agreeing that "Pakistan is the real source of terrorists"?

There is a difference between saying "Some British football fans are rowdy and ill-mannered" and "UK supports rowdism and vandalism in football games".

Yes, due to poverty and ignorance, there are organizations within Pakistan who promote violence, but almost all of them are out-lawed and pursued by the government of Pakistan. The statement by Clark, if true, is badly worded to suggest that Pakistan, as a whole, is a source of terror against the US.

Darn. It was starting to sound like an election where we could choose between a Presidential candidate who wanted to go to war with Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Iran, Somalia and Sudan VERSUS a Presidential candidate who wanted to go to war against Egypt, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Adding Saudi Arabia to his list, Clark was beginning to entice me a little. I'd probably have to go with Bush though as 6 new wars against countries with no nuclear arsenal is better than 3 new wars where one country has a nuclear arsenal. Unless of course, Pakistan's delivery systems could only get a nuke as far as France. Hmmm....Clark's plan is sounding better and better .......
