I am afraid you people making great mistake about this Incident of Hazrat Umar. It has been falsly attributed to Hazrat Umar. It not only insulting Hazrat Umar, but also insulting Prophet Muhammad (saw) that (nauzobillah) Prophet Muhammad was happy at killing of innocent people.

Okaay okaay we got your point allready…

However centuries of Muslim tradition cannot be shoved aside merely for secular whims…

Monk the incident you mentioned involved a Muslim and a Jew in a dispute. The muslim went to Hazrat Umer for 2nd opinion AFTER Hazoor (Peace Be Upon Him)'s decision against him. He was killed because AS A MUSLIM he questioned Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him)'s decision. If we take this as a proof then it only means that MUSLIMS should be treated harshly, should they go against Allah and His prophet’s words. It can not be used as justification to kill NON-Muslims, as logically being non-muslim means not believing in God and His Prophet’s words.

This is a very good analogy… I agree with you.

I dont think another person whatever the faith deserves to die unless they pose a direct threat to Islam or to Muslims…

For example just becuase the man across the road says Muslims are this that the other… and thier Allah is this and that … and thier Prophet is whatever… You couldn’t kill him.

But if said person was walking about with a KKK outfit, loudspeaker and carrying a gun saying those things… then by all means he can be taken down.

Offcourse my examples are a bit far fetched but they are merely there to make a stress on the point.

Blasphemy itself might not be reason to Kill but it can become one when coupled with other crimes.
