Re: Prescription drugs found in drinking water across US
^ I completely agree that this "contamination" must be miniscule, and this news has more masala content to make the readers shriek in horror than any real health danger. Having said that, there are reasons why autism is on the rise, and why various of cancers are becoming much more common compared to older times. Mixing chemicals in our drinking waters, injecting hormones to the cattle we eat and spraying various types of pesticides on our agricultural products is bound to have various side-effects. May be in a few decades from now, we'll find out. Unfortunately, by then it will be too late for many of us. Cheers!
On top of that the present trend in medicine, led by the pharmaceuticals is to find a pill or an injection for all ailments. There is hardly an research at all on alternate methods of treatment. More and more drugs are being marketed, more and more studies come up each year showing benefits in "controlled trials" of medications. If one has hypertension he is likely taking atleast 2 drugs, usually 3-4. If one has heart disease the usual regimen is 4 drugs. Now since most above 40 haver combination of ailments like, diabets, hypertension, heart disease, kidney disease arthritis etc, people take multiple drugs. Patients that i see take on average 20 tablets a day. Now all these are excreted and eventually make into water reservoirs.
If urgent attention is not given to things that are known to produce all these problems like fast food and cigarettes, the problem is going to escalate with tim.
