This is the 1st time I’ve heard of this. Whenever I’ve gone to someone’s house who gave birth recently…I usually take food with me for them! Whether its friends or family…when making plans to visit I actually ask what food they want me to bring b/c I know that they need to focus their energy on recovering from birth and the baby.
I also have no expectations receiving ANY type of food or drinks when I visit a newborn…and don’t view it negatively if its not offered. Granted most people we visit do offer drinks but we always insist that they do NOT get us anything.
