powers of NAB - PMLN, PPP and PTI on the same page?

Re: powers of NAB - PMLN, PPP and PTI on the same page?

Ignore the comment above which is absolutely baseless.

NAB is a Federal organisation, and KPK NAB has recovered far more money in KPK alone than all other provinces put together (which ultimately helps KPK’s drained economy). Today PESO Chief has been indicated for Rs1.5 billion rupee scam. So in short, PTI has no problem with NAB.

The current confusion the media is created over KPK Ehtasaab Commision. KPK has their own Ehtasaab Commission which no other province has, and recently they have passed a legislation to allow investigation before arrest, as previously it was arrest then investigation. Now the references and decision for arrests will be made by 4/5 member committee as opposed to the DG alone.

It seems like a pretty controversial move given Pakistan’s history with commissions, but the move appears to be a result to counter the backlash that the DG was a dictator and puppet of CM who was filing references out of political vendetta. Far too many important powers were concentrated in one man, but the new legislation empowers the commission.

The previous EC set up was given nine months, and it did not lead to speedy prosecution. Let’s see if the new structure leads to something bit more different.

But as far as NAB is concerned, it is still operating in KPK. Ehstaab Commission is a unique project started by PTI in KPK, and unlike NAB, any changes to KPEC are done through KPK assembly - so it’s all legislative, transparent and mutually agreed upon.

According to PHC - both NAB and EC can run parallel to each other, so in short, KPK actually has two accountability organisations compare to other provinces.
