Re: Portrayal of rural life in Pakistani media
There was a time, when state owned PTV produced dramas like Choti si duniya, Jungle, Deewaren, Waris revolving around rural life and folklore of those areas. Currently, we got so many channels but I don’t remember watching a project which covers rural life. I can’t remember a project after ‘Raahen’ and ‘Poore Chand ki Raat’ revolving around rural life.
What could be the reason behind this change? Has all the population of Pakistan shifted to urban areas and there is no need to cover rural life for getting nostalgic?
or this is due to the fact that now our marketing agencies don’t want to hilight real life problems and are behind promoting commercialism?
I think the last bit is more true. I also think sometimes our media tries to copy every single thing from our neighbours a bit too much. Look at the way news is reported with over the top dramatic dialogues with the same music in the background.
Makes me feel as if I watching Zee news
