I had negative image of Ponting based on what I read abt him. The only thing I knew abt him was when he claimed as captain a catch was fair resulting in dismissal of an Indian batsman.

So it was refreshing to see the positive side of a player. What I feel comfortable extrapolating is his tremendous fielding - he took some blinders in the Tests. At this age (I think he is 34?), for im to continue to focus on fielding and excel at it indicates to me he must have been one heck of a fielder in the past.

He is a fantastic fielder and that’s amazing given his age. No doubt.

But he has a very long record of bad sportsmanship, aggressive/rude onfield behavior, umpire bullying and hypocrisy. Very long record. It’s unfortunate that he has gotten away with it most of the time. I am not one to blame discrimination in most cases but in his case I definitely feel many third umpires and match officials have repeatedly been lenient on him while penalizing players from Asian countries in a second.
