Polygamy and Poly-amorous relationships?

Re: Polygamy and Poly-amorous relationships?

It is.

Re: Polygamy and Poly-amorous relationships?

But mostly sexual gratification without the risk of adultery.

Re: Polygamy and Poly-amorous relationships?

They are not; just pointing out how fundamentally different the two thoughts are.

Re: Polygamy and Poly-amorous relationships?

Or to make them take responsibility for their actions?

As much as we would like to think marriage is all about sex, it is not. It is a legal contract, in both secular and religious sense, to protect rights of the individuals. When the same-sex marriage proponents ask it to be legalized, that is exactly what they are asking. They want their individual rights to be protected. They are not asking state’s permission to have sex. The west got out of the business of legislating sex. Even if ‘adultery’ is illegal in many states, it is rarely enforced.

Re: Polygamy and Poly-amorous relationships?

Except in the Islamic context, polygyny is mostly about sex and the same rights of the individuals, the right to have multiple spouses, are not extended to women.
Personally I don’t think there is anything wrong with polygamy but as I stated earlier, it would create a legal and moral blunder in secular societies. How many partners can an individual have?

Re: Polygamy and Poly-amorous relationships?

^Why?

In secular societies people already have multiple partners.

Re: Polygamy and Poly-amorous relationships?

poly-amorous: sex

polygamy: sex…and then paying for a lot of stuff for too many women. and then having to pay for all the kids you made with them. After which, you lose interest in the sex, and want to castrate yourself. (< – great option and endpoint for some guys)

Re: Polygamy and Poly-amorous relationships?

Peace SaeedinPakistan

Women in ancient Arabia were shared around male friends … A man could give his own mother away …

The concept of polygamy was well understood in those times and the social effects were well understood too. Yet, since the edicts as established by RasoolAllah (SAW) were so to remove harm and unfairness I can’t see how you are right. For some reason you think numerical parity is the same as fairness.

Re: Polygamy and Poly-amorous relationships?

^ is the implementation of those edicts still needed, given that the harm / unfairness / practice of sharing women is quite far removed from the modern day society?
