@ Farha: If you're going to be outside in the sun (especially in the summer) for longer than 5-10 minutes...and you're not willing to wear sunglasses and a wide brim hat.....then you should not use Retin A (this applies whether you're in Pakistan or another country). The damage that sun exposure will cause to your skin makes using the RA completely pointless. In this case, you're better off not using it at all.
Well ok what I'll do then is continue using it for the next 2 weeks while I'm still here and then discontinue use in Pak (obviously i'll still apply the spf50 while I'm in pak) and maybe my skin will improve by then and then I can just continue to use it when I'm back.
According to the American Academy of Dermatology…no, sunscreen itself is not enough when it comes to protecting the skin…with or without the use of RA.
Besides, do you really re-apply the sunscreen every 2 hours or so? Most women I know (including myself) aren’t very good at following this rule. On top of that…most people don’t apply enough to begin with.
On a side note: With or without sunscreen, the idea is to keep the skin from being exposed to the sun as much as possible. So whether it's a hat, sunglasses, or full face niqab......it's best to use whatever material necessary to achieve this.
Besides, if you don't wear sunglasses and have a habit of squinting your eyes when outside (I'm not saying at about you gals specifically btw)....this increases your chances of fine lines/wrinkles around the eye area.
I have been using retin a 0.25% on the recommendation of some of the users here (particularly Paheli) for around 3 weeks now and my skin has just been getting worse and worse, I've not seen any improvement whatsoever and everyday I wake up with about a dozen new spots!! Okay maybe not a dozen but at least two three new ones!! My brothers getting married soon and I really need my skin to clear up by then please could u guys provide me with some tips, is this normal? I am considering not using it any more but at the same time I feel like I'm giving up too soon,
How long does it usually take for improvement??
I have acne for more than a decade. Except for medication that I followed for 3-4 months (that didn't work as such, I tend not to follow a routine).
Something that really worked for me though is a totka someone suggested.
Take a big piece of ginger and peel off the cover.
Then make smaller slices and put them in some shopping bag.
Crush that using a strong weight.
Squeeze that stuff and you'll get some juice, put that on your clean and dry face. (Its going to irritate the skin a little)
You should see the results in 2-3 days.
You'd have to keep doing this in a routine though but less frequent.
