It's sickening and disgusting the way the Pakistani nation have treated and forgotten STRANDED PAKISTANIS in Bangladesh. These people supported Pakistan against Bangladesh and they have been treated as second or third class citizens ever since. Something should be done!!!!!!
Repatriation is the only answer!!!!!!!
^ agreed, if we are going to be so concerned about plight of kashmiris, why not Pakistanis in bangladesh? These are not the people who wanted the place to separate from Pakistan, they consider themselves Pakistanis and should be in Pakistan.
Why dont they just ride a plane and come back home? ![]()

Only if Bangladesh is ready to take back its more than 1.5 million citizens, who are living illegally in Pakistan. Period.
shawaiz
illegal workers are not the same as those stranded in bangladesh. the illegal workers came to pakistan of their own free will, pakistan can choose to find them and deprt them if it wishes. The pakistanis stuck in bangladesh are there not of their will, they were there when bangladesh became independent but they wanted to be with their country pakistan, except they can not.
Cthonicpowers.
well aside from costs, the question is, are they recognized as Pakistanis now? I would like to learn more about their current nationality status.

really? u have never heard of or met anyone whose family was well off yetthey migrated to Pakistan after 1947? or from hyderabad after that place was taken?
If they were already poor they would be considered stranded in any country anyway.
The situation here is different, those people consider themselves Pakistani and were opposed to the creation of Bangladesh..they were Pakistani Citizens upto 1971 and if they do not want anythign to do with Bangladesh they should be allowed to come to Pakistan.
If in 1947 Bharat disallowed ppl living in the part that became pakistan to migrate..that would have been a similar example, but that did not happen. The people who considered themselves Indian and not Pakistani were allowed to go to the part which was India now. In east pakistan's case too..the people who consider themselves Pakistani should be allowed to come to the part which is Pakistan now.
This is a very politicised issue, some of the few families that have been repatriated now regret their decision at the same time the (stranded pakistani) community in Bangladesh is increasingly split and many are no longer interested in migrating to Pakistan.
They live in legal limbo..because according to the UNHCR they are not refugees, the Bangladesh government has no problem with the community, it is the Pakistan government that has the problem
Ideally to minimise the effect there should be a voluntary repatriation program and at the same time ..a major drive should be made to reduce the number of illegal migrants in places like Karachi. Sadly, even now in Okara in Punjab there are several housings ettlements made for the stranded Pakistanis that have been left empty..because of the governments indecisiveness.
In that sense whole present day Bangldesh is stranded as well. They opted for Pakistan for a united muslim country.
That union meant a lot for Bangladesh. It was the only passage to be connected with other muslim countries.
..............................
well .......thanks for the reply .........these pakistanis opted for pakistan and r surviving the hostile awami league attitude just for going to pakistan..........
the problem is not in finances primarily as moatamer islami is willing to finance......the main problem is where to settle them........no province is willing to accept them.........sindh has a vaid rreason.......punjab gave some of them who came in nawaz sharif time land near mian cunno but the place s now with out any electricity and water .......no place to earn...etc.......
now even these pakistanis have losed hope and r now considering opting for bangaladeshi nationality........especially thier young generation ..who says why should we opt for a country which dot want to own us ...but the old generation is still optimistic about pakistan.......
we have place for bengalis and afghans in pakistan but no place for pakistanis...........
Allah Inke Mushkilat ko khatm karee.
Ameen

Yes, that can seem a logical argument, but it is not. The 'Biharis' are Pakistani's by choice, and their repratiation to Pakistan should not depend upon what happens to Bangladeshi's who came here illegally.

very true....
It's a tough choice since a lot has to do with ethnicity. The best choice for the Biharis is to make the best where they are living. I don't think it would be a politically sound decision to bring Urdu speaking lot and try to settle them in the areas such as Southern Punjab. It will create unnecessary tensions, and I don't forsee the biharis ever being brought back to Pakistan for variety of reasons. We are better off spending resources on other urgent matters.
Yeah, maybe to some extent it's racial, but then again a lot of things are not fair. It's time to accept the reality and move on.

unfortunate to hear that...........if it is like sub se pehlay pakistan then who will support pakistan when pakistan is known to dump their once beloveds when pakistan dont need them any more............we r known to backstabb our friends (unfortunately) we did it with biharis.....Taliban...and now r willing to do this to kashmiris.......
