Before America started giving aid in 2002, Pakistan’s reserves were 6.5 billion dollars, economy was stable and free from the clutches of IMF and Pakistan was economically and militarily self-sufficient.
It’s the current government that has failed to maintain balance of payments for foreign loans and has invited IMF to take control. The aid is not used to make payments for loans, IMF’s loans are used for that purpose.

So stopping the aid will not affect us much. If we have a competent government that can take care of balance of payments then we can live without both the aid and the loans.
