Great animation there. But so many assumptions in it which are not yet confirmed. Especially the one where it is assumed that the pilot attempted to open landing gear before first landing. Now the cockpit voice recorder has been found, hopefully, the full recording is released along with black box data.

What really needs to be established is why they wrre hot and high before the approach. What was going on that they forgot or ignored proper approach to KHI.

The investigation report has now been completed and submitted to the Aviation Division. According to unconfirmed reports in the media the crash is a result of errors by pilots and air controller.
This is probably the correct conclusion. However, I hope people realize that these errors were not just individual errors but a result of the culture of lax discipline at PIA and ATC in general.
ATC is being blamed but they weren't in the plane making stupid decisions.
I know that the folks that allowed high-rise apartments to be built in Model Colony will never be punished. The plane could have survived with damages had it not been clipped when it was landing again.
It isn't a Karachi problem either. Peshawar from what I read has the airport dead center of the city (or the city expanded around it). I don't know if Lahore has the same problem.

I literally rejected houses here three years ago just because the town was in the flight zone. The realtor was like you can close the windows and you won't even hear the noise but I was thinking that sure, I can close the windows but it only takes one plane accident to screw things up.
