Photographers???

Re: Photographers???

read the manual.

This thread was never a serious inquiry, it was simple Cafe like chit chat asking only if there r ppl who r interested in photography… but anyway, u r the boss :stuck_out_tongue:

Punjabi in USA, then we fall in same category

stoppit: only if manuals were enough for everyone to be a good photographer :stuck_out_tongue:

:bravo:

Re: Photographers???

the manual is the foundation. if don’t know much about your camera or photography, it’s a goldmine of information.
not only will it tell you all the functions and settings within your camera but it will teach you about exposure - setting aperture, shutter speed… how to compose photos… etc etc etc.

i too have a D90, 4 lenses and a speedflash, so far.

Re: Photographers???

^AGreed, it does have alot of info about the camera, and i admit i cant digest it that soon, might take months. I have been playing around with aperture and shutter speeds for depth of field, different ISO settings and manual focusing…sigh

:bravo:

Re: Photographers???

well that's all you need. once you know all that it's up to you to practice and develop your own style - that's not something that can be taught.

if it's too much to read, playing around is a good start. changing settings and seeing how they effect shots.

yes, manual mode is great but i don't know why would need to manually focus. you can change the settings (Single** Point AF, Dynamic Area AF, Automatic-area AF) to enable you to move the focal point but still with the precision of auto-focus.
i only bother with it using my manual lenses as i don't have a choice.

Yes, thats a good start to familiarize yourself with the camera. After that its the photographers creativity :hehe:

The best way to learn is to first learn your camera and second to actually keep track of exposure settings (aperture and shutter speeds) and then compare them to the results. Change the settings and keep clicking on the same exact subject to see the differences.

Its so much easier these days with DSLR’s and instant gratification. Back in the day I used to carry around a notebook and used to record exposures every time i’d take a picture and then keep track of pic numbers, just like a check book, even recording “void” pics.

nice.

join photo sharing spaces i.e. flickr, picasa, photobucket and get inspirations from there.
