Personal Opinions required.

Re: Personal Opinions required.

You know I find this issue to be really confusing. When I see people equating hijaaban = piety or hijaaban = morally superior bitch showing off 'closeness with God' /oppressed person, from pro and anti-hijab people, I get really baffled. Its like they've missed a huge step in rational thinking. I say to myself why on earth would someone see another wearing a piece of cloth on their heads and come to either one of these conclusions. Is the hijaab really so powerful a symbol and brand to be really so controversial? And as far as other religions are concerned, why are religious symbols like the crucifix, kippah not held to the same levels of judgement and scrutiny as the hijaab?

whenever I see a hijaabi, I can ID her. Hijaab is kind of like an instantly identifiable lifetime membership badge showing the person's own personal committment to her beliefs(which may expect her to live up to a certain standard of behaviour). Nothing more nothing less. In my view hijaab doesn't automatically make you pious or turn you into a role model of some sort and it doesn't make you responsible for anyone else except yourself.

Simply hijaab is about image, branding and personal identity. Doesn't harm anyone does it.
