Persistent Vegetative State at Pasheen(Quetta)

I do pray for him and Isha’allah he will recover soon. I just found some info about treatment thought to post it…Please do pray for him everybody who reads this msg.!!! Thank You all.

Possible treatment and cures
As of today, no treatment for vegetative state exists that would satisfy the efficacy criteria of evidence-based medicine. Several methods have been proposed which can roughly be subdivided into four categories: pharmacological methods, surgery, physical therapy, and various stimulation techniques. Pharmacological therapy mainly uses activating substances such as tricyclic antidepressants or methylphenidate. Promising results have been reported on dopaminergic drugs, particularly amantadine. Presently the first randomized controlled trial amantadine versus placebo is running; its results have not been published yet. Surgical methods such as deep brain stimulation are rarely used. Stimulation techniques include sensory stimulation, sensory regulation, music and musicokinetic therapy, social-tactile interaction, etc.

Thank you very much. We have used amantadine last year with Jawad Pasha. Different medicine used time to time could not prove yet a permanent effect. Deep brain stemulation therapy is still experimental and even the doctors doing it are not yet clear about it. However I will search about other therapies you quoted. Please cotinue praying for Muhammad Hussain Kakar and Jawad Pasha.

Re: Persistent Vegetative State at Pasheen(Quetta)

Do anyone of you knew any Persistent Vegetative State or Minimally Conscious State in result of any accident ?
Please tell me
(PVS or MCS are the people total disable.do not talk or move often feeded by tubes)

Re: Persistent Vegetative State at Pasheen(Quetta)

And what's the purpose of this thread?

Surprising question
However my aim in start of this thread was to seek some help for this family because they were not having sources to meet this challenge. To deal with a PVS is difficult that only a few can understand. A person who can not speak ,eat or move, no way to communicate. It is very hard to take care of such patient and they live in a very remote area where no medical facility is available. I was thinking if someone near could do something for them but as my habit I could not ask anyone to help them but requested for prayers.
Now by the grace of God the boy is improving at a very fast speed and my son Jawad Pasha and this young man have become an example. If you go learn or search about Persistent Vegetative State there are more than thirty thousand in USA only and if we include the rest of the world they are more than one hundred thousand and Jawad Pasha and Muhammad Hussain are going world best in recovery and improvement. We are discovering a new way for these patients . Will you believe that no one is ready to recognize this effort in the world because this is not believable to them.
I wanted to help others so I wanted to know about other patients in Pakistan.
Thank you for asking.

Re: Persistent Vegetative State at Pasheen(Quetta)

I have seen a report today recently issued again and see our results.

This consensus statement of the Multi-Society Task Force summarizes current knowledge of the medical aspects of the persistent vegetative state in adults and children.

The vegetative state is a clinical condition of complete unawareness of the self and the environment, accompanied by sleep-wake cycles, with either complete or partial preservation of hypothalamic and brain-stem autonomic functions. In addition, patients in a vegetative state show no evidence of sustained, reproducible, purposeful, or voluntary behavioral responses to visual, auditory, tactile, or noxious stimuli; show no evidence of language comprehension or expression; have bowel and bladder incontinence; and have variably preserved cranial-nerve and spinal reflexes. We define persistent vegetative state as a vegetative state present one month after acute traumatic or nontraumatic brain injury or lasting for at least one month in patients with degenerative or metabolic disorders or developmental malformations.

The clinical course and outcome of a persistent vegetative state depend on its cause. Three categories of disorder can cause such a state: acute traumatic and nontraumatic brain injuries, degenerative and metabolic brain disorders, and severe congenital malformations of the nervous

Recovery of consciousness from a posttraumatic persistent vegetative state is unlikely after 12 months in adults and children. Recovery from a nontraumatic persistent vegetative state after three months is exceedingly rare in both adults and children. Patients with degenerative or metabolic disorders or congenital malformations who remain in a persistent vegetative state for several months are unlikely to recover consciousness. The life span of adults and children in such a state is substantially reduced. For most such patients, life expectancy ranges from 2 to 5 years; survival beyond 10 years is unusual.

This statement has been approved by the American Academy of Neurology, Child Neurology Society, American Neurological Association, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and American Academy of Pediatrics. The results of the literature search, as well as correspondence and other documents generated by the task force, are available through the American Academy of Neurology in Minneapolis. The members of the task force are Stephen Ashwal, M.D., cochairman (Loma Linda University School of Medicine, Loma Linda, Calif.), Child Neurology Society; Ronald Cranford, M.D., cochairman (Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis), American Academy of Neurology; James L. Re: Persistent Vegetative State at Pasheen(Quetta)

I am sorry but I have to say that when I read about brain damaged people Like Persistent Vegetative State, Minimally Conscious State and Locked in Syndrome I find difficult words, long terms and useless discussions. The result is is only available with a few miracle type chances and odd therapies. I have been informing about improvement of my son Jawad Pasha and one Muhammad Hussain Kakar and now one therapist Mr Naeem told me that he has been watching some recovery in one patient who is locked in syndrome and he is trying more. So I am sure that some more good results will come out soon if we could be able to come out from the old theories.
This is now a work for the world where hundreds of thousand of brain damaged people are having no way for their improvement.

Re: Persistent Vegetative State at Pasheen(Quetta)

First good news that Muhammad Hussain is improving at a very encouraging speed. His family is very happy and thank full to you all praying.
Please continue your pray for him and my son Jawad Pasha
See the world is changing.

Re: Persistent Vegetative State at Pasheen(Quetta)

Muhammad Hussain is further improving, Now he goes for outing wth his father in a car and keeps his head controlled. Says yes by moving his neck in yes but when for some thing he likes. It is like my son Jawad Pasha who blinks his eyes in yes only when he is asked for something he likes.

Re: Persistent Vegetative State at Pasheen(Quetta)

AP, that is truly wonderful news!! What I.m wondering now is whether you may have looked into ocular-controlled keyboards...it would enable a quadriplegic to "type" with his eyes. There are orgs that could help fund and purchase such tecnnology for him...and it would enable him to communicate with you.

Thank you.
Yesterday I heard him trying to make voice on cell phone.
He replied me by hummmmmm , hummmmmm, hummmmm.
Many times.
Thanks God .This is a great news in history of Persistent Vegetative.
I have sent one friend of my deceased son Ubaid Pasha at his home and he made a video of him . Hope I will be able to produce that soon. (before this voice improvement)

is that a recent development?

Thank you for your continuous interest, I remember the day when you helped me in posting my first picture on net.
It is the recent development of Hussain. Jawad is now sharing in his exercise, He can not initiate any function yet but we feel him working with us while we moving him.

Re: Persistent Vegetative State at Pasheen(Quetta)

As I said before if boy got half of your heart, he will come out of it Inshallah

Re: Persistent Vegetative State at Pasheen(Quetta)

You can see now Muhammad Hussain well improved.
Thanks God.

Thank You Buddy ( Bahadar Sher Khan )
For going so away and doing this all.

**This is a story of people living in Mud homes away from cities.
**
And at start of this thread just one year ago he was a total Zero and it took just one year to reach a stage of awareness and responding. No doctors , No physiotherapists , No health care personal, Only care of family and little experience of Jawad Pasha used only by telephonic advice.

Re: Persistent Vegetative State at Pasheen(Quetta)

You have seen the video of Muhammad Hussain Kakar now much improved.
A very good encouraging news about him.
Today his sister called me and told that he has started responding by voice.
Actually I have heard him 3-4 day ago.
I called them but the father or sister of Hussain were perhaps not home who can speak Urdu. (Pashto speaking Pakistanis). So because I often talk to Muhammad Hussain. (One way talking) Any family member braught the phone to Muhammad Hussain and he started making light voice regularly like Hummmm Hummmm. I was very happy and today it was confirmed.
Some change in theory and history of Persistent Vegetative or Minimally Conscious State by Pakistanis.
Any one interested to share in this struggle should be appreciated. You may contact to this family directly.
Thanks God.

Re: Persistent Vegetative State at Pasheen(Quetta)

There is very good news.
It is a new development .
It is the great mercy of Allah Almighty.
He has started talking by repeating words.
How much encouraging only that one can understand who is aware of gravity of the problem of Persistent Vegetative State.
This is a breaking news in the history of this problem.
Please prey for fully recovery of Jawad Pasha and Muhammad Hussain and all the human being.
Me , my family and his family are much happy.
It is still a long journey.

Re: Persistent Vegetative State at Pasheen(Quetta)

God is great.
His nasal feeding tube has been removed and he has started feeding by mouth.

Re: Persistent Vegetative State at Pasheen(Quetta)

He is more developed
We are decoding the Persistent Vegetative State.
Great honor for me.
Muhammad Hussain has started weeping.
You will be surprised but starting weeping is a great recovery. My son Jawad Pasha could not reach at this point within six years.

Re: Persistent Vegetative State at Pasheen(Quetta)

I tried this time in Urdu. I posted it in a all views thread but copying here for record and information for those which read only this thread.
- Persistent Vegetative State)
