The most common cause is PCOS Poly-cystic-ovarian syndrome. If its very bad, it can impact fertility. But most cases it causes irregularity and cramps. The "pill" corrects this in many cases but it takes a gyn to evaluate and determine the best course of acttion. Good luck and see your doc!
