I like it too. I hunted down a bottle with some difficulty (for Mom); it sure does smell very nice and is one of the longest lasting perfumes I’ve come across. The lady at the shop sprayed my wrist instead of using a cardboard test blot, and it survived a couple of hand-washes before it was gone completely…
The only sticking point is the price…at least in Australia, it is priced very dearly when considering the quantity in the bottle (2.5oz for US$170).
I’ll add a few more recommendations here that my sister told me about when I was talking to her earlier in the day…
Organza by Givenchy (somewhat woody, but quite floral on the top)
L’eau D’Issey by Issey Miyake
Dune by Christian Dior (floral); Mom has had this on and off since the early 90s.
Parisenne by YvesSaintLaurent (quite floral, slight musk) (The shorter, more squat bottle is the EDP). About US$165 for 3oz.
Elle by YSL (The darker bottle is the EDP); this one is a much “younger” fragrance than others from YSL (Paris/Parisienne/Opium) ; it has a nice mix of flower, fruit and spice. US$160 for 3oz in Melbourne.
Another good one from Dior is J’Adore; the best version of that would be the “Essence de Parfum”, but that one is eye-wateringly pricey (US$175 for 1.1oz in Australia). That said, the EsDP is very concentrated, and it should last a fair while.
Silver Rain by La Prarie is also very nice, but I dont recommend it as such. It’s sold in the EDP concentration for a higher price than Dior sell their EsDP concentrations at. Not good.
And of course, being a boy, the name Bvlgari is never far from my mind either. From them, there’s one I would recommend without a hiccup, “Rose Essentiale” . Comes in either EDT or EDP concentration (EDP bottles have a gold neck and cap, EDTs have only the cap golden). Rose Essentialle is floral on the top, and fades to a very pleasant sandalwood. Can go up to US$210 for 3.4oz bottles here.
Finally, there’s Chanel No. 22…it’s only sold at Chanel Boutiques, being part of their “exclusives” range. Smells absolutely gorgeous, and the bottle size is gigantic. 6.8oz (200ml) for US$330 or thereabouts.
All prices I mention are street-level prices in Australian department stores. Prices at Macys/Nordstrom etc in USA are likely to be much lower, because we do get smacked with hefty markups here.
