I am sorry friends I was away from my town and that’s Why i couldn’t read admin warning on time. Marwati is absolutely right by saying that different tribes of pashtuns have different attitude towards syeds some accept them in their ranks but most of pashtuns will not give them equal status in some affairs like marriages. I am from a khattak dominating district of Pukhtunkhwa. The famous Ziyarat kaka sahib situated in my town and majority of the people of kaka sahib though syed but they don’t like to add surname of Bukhari, Galani or jailani. They proudly use the surname of kaka khel which the local inhabitants(khattak) given them.In fact the tribe of khattak given them an equal status and that’s why call them Kaka khel which mean uncle’s sons(cousins)I hope admin will let me to share what i find useful.Thank u Admin/moderator Spock for giving me extra time.

That's the same tradition in Punjab and elsewhere. Many people take their surname from their pir faqir.
Like any region in the world, if you try to find differences between people, you will find many examples to support your thesis.
And if you want to be positive, and try to find similarities among people, again you will find many examples.
So it really depends on your approach wether it is positive or not.

But Instead of using their own real surname they prefer to use the surname of what the khattak(real land owner) chosen for them, though they have their own strong family back ground.while the situation is not same in the punjab and sindh as marwati mentioned.

I do not understand what exactly do you find in the thread useful? The surnames or the castes?
