**Another Question: **What do people in apts. do about the drinking water? Tap water? Filtered? Bottled? Right now we have our own fridge in the house and it has the filtered water dispenser. I was looking at some bottle-less water coolers. They are expensive ($300-$800) but they are cool. You don't have to fill water bottles every week nor spend money on new bottled water.
Management will tell you about the water. They will give you information about whether it is drinkable or not. They also give notice if they suspect the water is contaminated or has lead in it.

Thanks.
**I will be going there for apartment hunting in a couple of weeks, inshallah.
Question: Does anyone have insurances for their contents? If you do, approximately how much does it cost per month to insure up to a certain amount? i.e. $15 per month for up to $30,000?
**I was looking up this information online and found that it normally runs around $15 per month for up to $30,000 in contents insurance. Of course it depends on your city, state, and zip code but just an estimate from someone who actually has insurance would be great. And what companies usually sell such insurance? I found a few like State Farm, All State, and a couple of other.
Sorry Bud! can't help u there...i've never had renters insurance. :(
But...usually ALL insurance companies offer Renters insurance as well. It's best to go with ur auto insurance company because u might get additional discount(s).
making oneself feel insecure in an apartment while you are to trying money for a home, is not a healthy psychological approach to looking at the status quo of not owning a grand-er house for now. one should all one can to live in decent neighborhoods. a huge or not to huge house does not matter as much.
sometimes, when one has a big house, people look down upon you or are afraid of connecting with you, thinking that you are arrogant, but you are not.
best,
Dushwari

Yeah most likely I'll go with State Farm as they are my auto insurer. I hope they sell renters insurance in TX. I can't even get a quote yet because I don't have an address or even a zip code where the apartment will be. I realize that I will be able to get a quote only after I have an address but I am just trying to get an estimate for now.
MWAP I'll ask them about it but I read on the "relocation guide" that I got from Texas state office and they said any kind of insurance is up to the renter. The landlord is not responsible for any accidents (fire, flood, other accidents) accept when it is caused due to the negligence of the landlord (water leakage damage, fungus, short circuit etc). But I will still ask them, just in case.
That's correct. Anything that happens inside the apartment is your responsiblity. If there is problem, management wants to make sure what caused it. If fire happens, they want to know whether it was because of renters' negligence or malfunction. When you rent the apartment, it is your responsibility what goes on inside.

going with the same Auto insurance is the best thing, you will get a good deal and it will reduce your auto insurance too, Are you moving to Texas?
