Ok, here are my views on this (and related) topic:
I think its perfectly fine for our national cricketers to
- Have beards.
- Pray salah ba jamaat.
- Preach about Islam to others (da'wah).
- Say Bismillah and Alhamdollilah before their interviews.
Have limited fluency in foreign languages (incl English). If they have fluency, well and good. I think its completely unacceptable for our players to
Make selection decisions in the team based on another player's perceived taqwa level
Give up necessary cricket practice to do other extra-curricular activities
Not keep themselves fit.
Instead of performing to their best abilities, hoping that prayers alone will get them through.
Create an atmosphere to pressurize and discriminate other players to fit a certain mold of musalmanliness.
This about sums it up. Totally agree.
