I haven't been in this situation so far but after observing desi guys at work, here is my number one observation why this could happen:
Desi guys run into all kinds of people at work, people we interact and joke around with for a good eight hours everyday. This could often include raunchy and risque jokes that desi guys share with the men and women at work. Often times this leads to the guy developing a split personality, one for work and one for home.
The conflict arises when the two worlds collide at the office xmas party and the desi husband doesn't know weather to act all angrez liberal (like he does infront of his office mates) or the holier than thou pavitr husband (like he does infront of his desi wife).
This is the same reason i find it hard to have my friends interact with my parents. Growing up in Karachi ive had to put up one face on the streets of saddar and another face at home.
