yes i agree with saima ....as my mother always mentions:'Do's should be more than Don'ts'....encouragement is the key !
and i don't think its the right way to compare one child with the other ......every individual is different....even in one household ....let alone comparing the generations!
what i find very helpful sometimes is ....i ask my kids what do they think of their behaviour ..... was it good or not .....n what do they think ...should they behave like that ....n if they did , what were they thinking .....
you'll be amazed to see how a child can think about it ,,....they often seem to realise it themselves ....n i don't have to say a thing .....they are never interested what the parents are speaking about in their anger .....if they are silent ....don't mistake it with being obedient....frankly, they are just waiting for the parent to come back to senses n leave them alone!
plus...talking to them provides an insight ......n mostly it reveals the points i could've easily missed otherwise ......
