Strictly speaking from a sociological point of view, yes sex and gender are different but it is this couple who is clearly getting confused between the two! Not acknowledging the sex of your baby doesn’t mean you are raising a genderless baby! You’re just being ignorant and living a life of denial. Strictly speaking from a scientific point of view (no socially driven concept!) a baby is either a girl or a boy unless of course it falls in one of those rare circumstances where the baby has no sex (intersex). If this couple really wants to raise their child genderless, they will actually acknowledge the sex of their child and then just let the child be allowing him/her to choose what he/she wants to play with, who he/she wants to play with or how he/she wants to dress. If anything this couple is restricting and confusing the child even more with their bizarre ways. It’s as if they don’t want to acknowledge the anatomy of their child!

You are right biology determins male or female…
Society makes girls or boys…
And I was just pointing that out because I kind of understand where the parents were coming from…not that it is right or wrong thing to do.

Odd. Seems more like an unnecessary statement they want to make rather than really benefit their child. They are just creating a complicated future for him/her.

Oh and gender is surely partially determined by biological sex. Society plays a huge role in it, but that doesn’t totally dismiss the genetic component.
