I think I'm a fairly decent cook but i too don't make the best roti (it's map shaped) or paratha. There is one paratha recipe/method i saw on Sara Riaz,'s cooking show that I really liked and they turn out very well . It's called lacha paratha. Basically the roti is rolled out and then she cuts into several strips and adds a tsp of oil and sprinkle on some atta. Then first strip is rolled and then each subsequent strip is added to the first roll up. It looks like a cinnamon roll. Then you flatten and roll out into round shape. Put on tawa and add oil or ghee and turn over and cook until golden brown. I put a pic of it when we had the weekly cooking competition by C .B
