Re: Paradise is under a mother's feet
^ :D :D
not everything defined by law is supposed to be good is it :p
as for BBQ's post ..this hadith is for the same woman as the one mentioned in this verse of the Holy Quran
in travail upon travail did his mother bear him and his weaning was over two years. Be thankful to Me and to your parents, unto Me is the final destination."[Quran 31:14]
so naturally this is for the biological mother ..but it;s just not the bearing and delivering but also raising a child which grants a mother the true status of having paradise under her feet !
Re: Paradise is under a mother's feet
Whoever plays the mother's role is deserving of it whether it be your biological mother or otherwise.
One could raise someone else's baby, but its the Biological mother who carries baby for 9 months and delivers the baby. Hence no one can take her spot.

I do understand the importance of the mother who delievers the child HOWEVER are you trying to say someone who didnt deliever the baby but brought them up well, like a mother does, is not eligable for same respect if not more? I say more cuz for the biological mother the love is inate where as if somebody else is playing motherly to you, it perhaps takes all the more effort.

I have seen guys appreciate there non biological mother a lot. The raised kid would claim that my own mother coudnt have done any better. So hats off to such moms.
However there is a bond between mom and kid which is created in 9 months of Pregnancy, which non biological mothers dont experience. I guess we shld discuss this topic once u become a mom.
Re: Paradise is under a mother’s feet
Kinda like the natural bond between Casey Anthony and her daughter Caylee (allegedly)?

Did i say the bond would be same?! I was talking about respect. You can love two people in different amount but its not necessary that the respect you give them is evaluated according to the degree of love you have for them. If you know what i am saying...!!!
When i become a biological mother, how would i be able to compare it to the love a non-biological mother would have for her child? So i don't understand why you think that would be a better time to understand the difference. It's either when you havent experienced either or when you have both.

I feel guilty here for even arguing like this, its sounds like i am degrading non biological mothers which is shame; but i dont intend to.
When i said it wuld be a better idea to discuss it when u become a mother, i meant that you can imagine adopting a child now and even after your are a mother. However once you give birth to a baby you wud undertsand why i am insisting that its not a small thing to ignore.
About respect, A non Biological mother raising someone else's biological kid like his own child.... Nuthing beats that.

It's a healthy discussion, lets take it like that and no need to feel guilty or anything of that sort as i understand what you are trying to say and that you don't mean any disrespect to the adopted parents.
And i am sure when a women gives birth to a child, its the most special moment hence the significance of it in our religion too :). So nobody can deny that! :) Let's pray that every women who is willing for it, gets her chance to experience it. InshaAllah.
