Re: Palaak Paneer Recipe
Desi Beautii, i am not a big fan of spice mixes, i only use them for tandoori etc. Making food without mixes is much easier, this way you dont have to buy anything special, everything is in your kitchen cabinet.

Re: Palaak Paneer Recipe
yeah that is soooo true.... i wish I had known that yesterday LMAOOOOO. Ok so when you cook the spinach how do u get it to have more of a watery texture rather than a solid? Do you cook it for a really long time? I gotta get this right.
Re: Palaak Paneer Recipe
Did you cook it till it was soft and then put it in a blender? Was the taste ok?
Re: Palaak Paneer Recipe
It did not taste right. I did not put it in a blender.... ur supposed to cook it first and than put it in a blender?
Re: Palaak Paneer Recipe
What recipe did you follow? If you followed the one i posted here and have personally tried several times, it tells you to puree half of the palak mix in a blender.
Re: Palaak Paneer Recipe
Ira, is ok if i cook it and not put it in a blender? i want it to have a little bit more texture?
Ingredients:
Procedure: Heat oil. Fry finely chopped onions till light golden. Add green paste and palak. Cook for couple of minutes the blend it to a paste. Cut paneer into cubes. Fry then till they are light golden. Add the fried paneer to the palak paste. Cook for a few minutes and add salt as per your taste.
Blend the green paste and palak by hand? or in a blender?

If you want some texture, blend half of it and leave the rest alone.
whoa whoa.. you never put spinach in the blender...it not only loses texture but turns into goo... just like you never put potato in the blender to make mashed potatoes or pureed potatos for that matter... u always mash with a hand masher or with a fork.
i have a great recipe for palak paneer by zubeida tariq.... ppl must like it cuz im always asked to make it at potlucks..
1 kg spinach. wash properly. seperate from the stems all teh way into the leaf. no stem should remain. if you have ever eaten a sour palak paneer, that is the reason why it is so.
put in a big pot without any water and let it cook on high heat, covered. keep a watch on the pot cuz it will steam very fast in its own water and u dont want to burn it.
once all the water has evaporated, u mash with a fork. its really easy.
in a sep non stick pot, u add 2 tbsp butter and 2 tbsp oil. warm it up on high heat until the butter melts.
add 4 cloves of garlic finely chopped and sautee until golden.
add spinach and sautee a bit more.
add 1 tbsp crushed black pepper and salt to taste. followed by 4 green chillies slashed down the middle.
then u add 1 cup full milk and cook until it starts to bubble. lower the heat to medium and cook until all liquid has evaporated. or if u like a bit of luaab then turn stove off when a bit of thick liquid remains
now u can use cottage cheese or feta cheese. cottage cheese try to find the large cubes that u cut ureself cuz the otehr kind just melts away when u cook it.. so all u have is goo.
i use feta cheese.. cut it into bit sized cubes and add immediately after turning the stove off.. that way it melts a bit but doesnt turn into goo...
