It seems like a big win but in reality I would say this match is more a failure than a success. Our top order failed miserable in exactly the same fashion as before. As usual it was the late/middle ordering bailing the team's behind's out. Our new players Bazid and Anjum both failed. Mind you all this against a team that's barely at international level. Looks like Bob Woolmer still has a lot of work to do before we can challenge Sri Lanka.

Pakistan top batting lineup failed yet again. Pak are going to need to do much better against Sri Lanka.
I think it was to provide Inzi an opportunity to yet again show his home crowd whata player he is ![]()
Pathetic performance by top order though ![]()
ASN bhai last 10 overs ki video post kardein aapki bari meherbani hogi, plz
Why did they interview Yoyo? And Afridi won't do well with Srilanka I'm telling you, he'll be gone soon by Murli muhahaha

Madam, Murali is not even playing. He is injured, muhahahaha :-p so Afridi might do the trick.
Point is that Afridi is a vastly improved one day bowler (probably Pakistan's best spinner in onedayers these days) so we should treat him as a bowler who can occassionally shine with the bat. This way we can protect our brain cells from burning after Afridi's inexplicable shots and subsequent dismissals.
^ Inzi didnt field as he had a groin strain, therfore Yoyo took over as captain when Pakistan was bowling.
I told this to you few years back. ![]()
Ok..it was few months.
Here is a poem on Woolmer's site
**The new "Chilliricks" from our resident poet!

Shahid Afridi, what a guy,
Always hits the ball sky high,
And lives by the phrase do or die.
He may occasionally get out for zero,
but in my heart he will always be my hero!
Bob Woolmer is one of a kind.
He has a brilliant cricketing mind,
And was for Pakistan one hell of a find.
His tactics at times make your hair curl,
And is recognised by many as the best in the world!**
Inzi suspect for next game. He had a groin injury and might miss the next game. He should be rested and Yoyo shud take over captaincy as there is no point in getting his injury even more serious.
afridi might not do well against sri lanka but if he doesnt, it will be his own fault. not because murali is some god. i hate that guy anyways.
^Murali's not playing he's injured out of this tournmanet I think.
Afirid and Razzaq if they can both hold up there end bowling wise are lethal in ODI's. Who else would you want battig in the last 10 over besides these two guys...
Both don't get pressured which is the biggest thing besides being hard hitters
Speaking of pathetic performancs, how about the Multan crowd... Anybody bother coming ot the game
It's time the started playing in places like Quetta, Bahawalpur,,, where there are'nt game right now. If you always play in teh same old place, no one shows up.
‘It’s hard to keep Afridi quiet’](http://www.jang-group.com/thenews/oct2004-daily/01-10-2004/sports/s12.htm)
‘It’s hard to keep Afridi quiet’
MULTAN: Zimbabwe coach Philip Simmons praised Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq and centurion Abdul Razzaq but singled out Shahid Afridi saying, “It’s hard to keep Afridi quiet in last ten overs.”
Afridi, who hit a hurricane fifty off just 21 balls, faced 26 deliveries for his 58, hitting five boundaries and four sixes.
He and Abdul Razzaq (107) exhibited marvellous stroke play that enabled Pakistan get 145 more in the last ten overs after Inzamam’s 73 steered Pakistan out of trouble initially.
While not ruling out the chances of staging an upset by his team, the Zimbabwe coach said, his players need to learn how to finish the game in their favour after a good start.
Zimbabwe sent four Pakistan batsmen to pavilion for just 36 but then Inzamam, Razzaq and Afridi changed the complexion of the game. “We could have sent six Pakistan batsmen to pavilion instead of four had we availed chances,” Simmons said, adding that it is always different playing against a stronger side.
He praised Inzamam-ul-Haq saying that he played a captain’s innings. “It is not easy to get him out,” he said.
Captain Tatenda Taibu also acknowledged fireworks by Afridi saying that his bowlers bowled well in the beginning but could not maintain that in the end. “Our Bowlers did bowl well in the beginning, their body language was perfect and they need to maintain it till the end.”

One-day series, Multan: Pakistan 292-7 (50 overs) beat Zimbabwe 148 (38.3 overs) by 144 runs
Astonishing batting by Abdul Razzaq and Shahid Afridi led Pakistan to a 144-run win over Zimbabwe in the first match of a triangular one-day series.
The hosts made 292-7 after hitting 145 off the last 10 overs in Multan, with Razzaq finishing unbeaten on 107 and Afridi making 58 off 26 balls.
Zimbabwe, who had reduced Pakistan to 6-3 early in the game, never looked likely to mount a serious challenge.
But Vusi Sibanda made 57 before they were all out for 148 in the 39th over.
Afridi also played a leading role with a ball, taking 3-18 and he finished off the game by bowling Doug Hondo for one.
Post-match reaction
Shoaib Malik took 3-37 as he and Afridi ran through the Zimbabwe tail after the early damage had been done by the seamers.
Pakistan went into the tournament, which also involves Sri Lanka, looking to atone for their disappointing Champions Trophy semi-final defeat by West Indies.
They gave debuts to Bazid Khan, the son of former Test batsman Majid, and seam bowler Iftikhar Anjum.
Skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq chose to bat after winning the toss but he had to stage a rescue mission after their top order was swept away.
Tinashe Panyangara had Yasir Hameed caught behind off the first ball of the game and Hondo sent Malik and Yousuf Youhana packing for a single each.
Bazid’s first innings came to an end on 12 when he edged a ball from Panyanagara to the keeper, but Inzamam and Razzaq steadied the innings with a stand of 95.
Afridi’s dismissal was as spectacular as his hitting
Inzamam was eventually lbw to Prosper Utseya for 73 and when Moin Khan followed for seven, stumped off Brendon Taylor, Pakistan were 146-6 with 10 overs and one ball remaining.
Afridi’s arrival at the crease heralded the start of the mayhem as Pakistan all but doubled their score from the final 60 balls.
He hit four sixes and Razzaq went one better as Zimbabwe’s young attack wilted under the pressure.
Afridi’s 50 took just 21 balls but he was bowled by Hondo, who had figures of 3-54, leaving Naved-ul-Hasan to join in with 16 not out off eight deliveries.
Naved made an early impact with the ball as Zimbabwe began their reply, winning an lbw decision against Stuart Matsikenyeri, who failed to score off 13 balls faced.
Shoaib Akhtar bowled Taylor for five, removing his off stump, but Dion Ebrahim (29) and Sibanda put on 56 for the third wicket before Razzaq found a way through Ebrahim’s defence.
Anjum celebrated his first international wicket when Mark Vermeulen was caught by Bazid for 10, but Sibanda continued to bat positively, hitting a six and six fours.
He was eventually caught behind off Malik as Zimbabwe’s last six wickets went down for 52 in the space of 12 overs.
malik n afridi again bagged 6 wickets together :k:
