Just to tell people that we shouldn't start making hype of someone after a short stint / stunt i.e. Taufeeq Umar, Yasir Hameed, Salman Butt etc.

During this ongoing test series, we have seen quality bowling from “some” Pakistani bowlers and decent batting all around but the most I am impressed is with the fielding (except Moin Khan) from the Pakis, and especially Taufeeq Umar, he took 6 catches, and dropped 1 catch in the 4 innings.
The catch he took of Gary Kirsten of Razzaq in 1st inning was one of the best catches I have seen from a slip fielder.

And it also comes in handy that he has scored 113, 60, 68 in his last 3 innings.

What a great find!

His batting technique is ZERO and typical of an after market from a ‘Tennis ball shooter gun’ practice. :elmo:
Same with Salma Butt.

Only Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal are natural in the present bunch.

Raindance, you couldn’t be more wrong. Taufeeq’s batting technique is decent, it’s just that he hasn’t played in a while, so he’s rusty. Salman Butt is a gutsy player, and his technique might not be too good, but with experience he’ll get better. It’s Shoaib Malik who’s a product of tennis ball cricket. The guy can’t bat except on subcontinent pitches. His foot movement is NIL, and can’t play moving ball at all. Watch him try to play outside off stump and you’ll want to pull hair out of your head. Only when the ball keeps straight and low does he have a chance of scoring.

Speaking of batting techniques, ALL Pak batsmen except Inzimam suffer from lack of foot movement. Youhanna is very suspect outside off stump, so is Yasir Hameed, Younis, Razzaq, Afridi, etc. Inzi, on the other hand, seems to have trouble with incoming balls but otherwise he’s in a different league altogether.

To compare, watch Tendulkar and then watch Youhana. While Youhanna will look graceful when in full form, he’ll look very ugly at other times, especially when fishing outside off stump. Tendulkar is always compact, with perfect technique.
