ASIF DUDE give us a break and yourself as well.
I just don't get it why you seemed to be so much obsessed with Islam....and tell you Shia & Sayed are not better then Sunis or other muslim...I think we should leave this thing on God to decide....

descendents of Holy Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam

I am sorry to say ASIF there are no direct decendents of our Prophet and most of the Shia and Sayed don't really know themselves why they are called Sayed and Shia. According to my knowledge, Shia is a short of the word "Shiyan-e-ALi", means followers of Ali...this sect was formed during the war between Hazart Aisha and Hazart Ali......the people who believed that Hazarat Ali was right at that time joined him and formed these "ImamBarahs" to say there prayes and follow the right teaching. That is it...it is nothing more then that..it doesn't make anyone superior or inferior.
Asif you got a discussion going …but did you really think, knowing the pak-india war going on all over gupshup..it would be taken that light hearted?
IMO
There is no one cultural ethnic group that is always better looking etc.
In addition, I think Pakistanis and many desis get stuck on color…lighter skinned girls with light hair and eyes are automatically considered prettier which I don’t agree with….perhaps it is living in America where I’ve seen enough gora to know that gori.. doesn’t automatically mean pretty. (this coming from a light skinned and light eyed Kashmiri, why I tossed that in I don’t know but I would hope I’m pretty not just because I’ve got those gori qualities.)
Now back to being a moderator….(someday i'll get this bold thing down..)
The thread topic started a discussion that became VERY inappropriate and offensive. I don’t like the comments tossed back and forth. …anyways I’m going to go through and individual try to do some editing…and warnings..but I will allow this thread to continue for a bit longer..if it continues in this manner ..IT WILL BE CLOSED!
(oh and if you want to discuss who's better syed's or non...take it to religion)

I really don't know what an 'Indian' looks like or what a 'Pakistani' looks like, in the generic sense, because there is no such thing as a 'generic' look in either country. I think that, in general, taking into account all the 'crap' I've been fed by beauty magazines and the media - defining my own perception of what is, and what is not beautiful, I would have to say that neither country occupies any niche of 'beauty' on these 'western' standards. What we should ask ourselves is:
Who defines what is 'good looking' and what is 'not'?
Where did these definitions come from?
Should we redefine them?
Is there a perception of beauty which is unique to our particular homeland (both India and Pakistan)?
What I mean to say, is that each cultural group has a different definition of beauty, in fact every individual has a different definition of beauty. Certain tribes in Africa have a perception of beauty, which may be closer to a general perception of ugliness in the west, but nevertheless it exists. If we are answering the questions, by defining 'beauty' by the standards set out in 'western' beauty magazines (which have been emulated in the east), than neither country has beautiful people - and we can start to hate ourselves for being 'ugly'. If we are defining beauty by our own definitions, than both countries are rich in diversity, rich in a beauty which is unique and lacking elsewhere in the world - than we can start to love ourselves. Rather than move towards this homogenous definition of beauty (where everyone is judged by one standard, set out in some fashion hub somewhere in Europe), lets re-instate our own definitions of beauty. One of the ugliest things about some societies is their obsession with beauty - an obsession which leads people to hate themselves, thats not something we should be encouraging.
I think that people are being quite unfair to Asif's original question. He was just asking for an opinion - he was not advocating that looks make someone better either as a person or as a nation.
As for my answer, I shall quote an incident from university. There were three Indian girls in my class and they all said that they thought Pakistani girls were, on the whole prettier. That was their general opinion as Indian girls.
Furthermore, in a discussion on south asia an indian student made a very robust presentation on India. He also proudly ststed that India was not only the largest democracy , good at computers etc but also that both Miss World and Miss Universe were from India that year.
To that, his Indian colleague replied "that is only because our neighbouring country Pakistan does not compete!"
Looks are not important - so why can't we gup shup about it without getting so serious and offensive?
Interesting story rasmalai
Anyway I agree with 714
If Indians are ugly or bad looking than so are Pakistanis. If Indians are hot than so are Pakistanis. We all come from the same INDIA.
So Asif youre now my slave bcs Im Sayed? Awesome :)
Interesting...looks are not important everyone is saying. Yet everybody protests about the assertion that Pakistanis are better looking (in general) but nobody minded that I said that Indians are generally more intelligent. The reaction seems to show that we are obsessed by beauty.
And what makes everybody think that only light-skinned people are beautiful? Hey, there are black models out there too you know!
Personally I like to admire beauty...and I like looking in the mirror ;) ;) ;)
Come on lighten up people....we all got our qualities so why feel bad what we got or what we haven't got?
…As for queer--i dont know what your problem is; i am proud of my religious affiliations BUT WHEN HAVE I EVER CLAIMED TO BE A GOOD MUSLIM? I CONSIDER MYSELF THE LOWEST OF THE MUSLIMS...but that still makes me better than you you qadiani…..<<<<
Queer, Are you Qadiyani? That’s cool man!
In terms of his contention that the lowest of the lowest of Nukas-bandis, he should be congratulated for being so honest. He actually tops (or bottoms) many other lists as well.
ya, he thinks i'm sooo insulted and stuff :)poor guy. Expects people not to take his comments seriously but doesnt bother to take other's replies lightly.
Asif said...."aur haan BombayKid --not it is not 'badsoorat logon ka badsoorat watan' but make it 'kuchh khoobsurat logon ka khoobsurat watan jo pakistani logon jitne khoobsurat nahin hain!!!!' (joke).
Point taken and accepted !! And you don't have to apologise....I agree that Pakistani girls rock !! I seriously do !! :)
I think a guy should be allowed to say what he does without branding him a "racist". I thought this was a democratic forum !
