Tariq Khan, now a junior majoring in sociology, said he was standing in front of the recruitment table outside the school student center - as he has often done before - during noontime with a paper sign reading, “Recruiters lie, don’t be deceived,” taped to his shirt.

Asked what motivated him to begin his protest against military recruiters on a campus where there is no organized anti-war movement, the former Air Force enlistee said, “For four years, I was making bombs. Then I started wondering where those bombs were actually going.” After reading and learning about the bombing of Kosovo and ongoing destruction of civilian facilities in Iraq, he came to his conclusion: “I asked the questions and I wasn’t happy with the answers We were bombing civilian plants.”

The guy was a munition specialist for four years, and didn’t know what bombs are being used for… come on a 4 year kid probably knows that. I hpe he din’t think, we were dropping candies in them.
The guy obviously had something against recruiters, probably didn’t read his contract before signing on the dotted line. Now the dumba&& got beat cuz of his own stupidity and now using Islam.

This is where things went wrong. He wasn’t touched until he disobeyed the police officer and was only dealt with forcefully because he was resisting arrest. The cop clearly came to diffuse the situation and the idiot kid made it worse.

Stu seems to me that the situation would have been diffused if the cop would have let him walk away as the guy was trying to do. I still dont see why it was only this guy who was being questioned and arrested since it appears that the dispute was started by the other party, and from what I see this guy had a right to protest and it also appears that there was no issue until some redneck made it an issue.

but the group of students standing around cheering and stating crap like “kick his ass” is idiotic and just shows the lameness of some people.

for all those who are on this guy’s case for being attention seeker, or whatever. It does not matter, the guy should not have been treated the same way. There is no need to slam someone around before arresting them, and there is obviously no need for a pack of idiots to stand around askign cops to kick his ass or what nots.

I am not sure guys, this story sounds alot like a setup, and the clearity of the pictures seems like it is fake. The injury doesn't look serious and the story is too detailed, I am not sure if it is entirely true.

Well, obviously. Seeking attention is what you are doing when you are trying to get a message across.

This is just pathetic. If that was some black or hispanic guy than people from their respective groups would have been bitchin racism left right and centre. Its good to see that many people on this board have the ability to think rationally but we all know that this was just wrong. I'm not just talking about the treatment by the officers, but also the immature behaviour, to say the least, of those apparent university students. Just goes to show how Bush got elected and then re-elected. If thats the kind of mentallity most Americans posses than its no surprise.

Granted, he didn't exactly get "brutalized" but just the treatment by those cops and those students is enough to make you puke in disgust.
