ISLAMABAD, Aug 3: Opposition members in the Senate have decided to submit an adjournment motion and a call attention notice to discuss the incident of alleged gangrape of a woman by security personnel in Azad Kashmir. Parliamentary secretary of the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) Izhar Amrohvi told Dawn that the call attention notice on the incident was being submitted by People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP) Senator Farhatullah Khan Babar through which he had drawn the attention of Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao towards the incident.

Similarly, he said, seven opposition senators had signed an adjournment motion under Rule 78 of the Rules and Procedure for Conduct of Business in the Senate 1988 in which they had expressed their concern on the alleged involvement of the security personnel in the incident.

The opposition senators, in their motion, state that “a responsible state functionary has admitted that the incident is being investigated.” The motion says the statement of the state functionary that no FIR has been registered by the family raises the question whether the family is being pressurized. Thirdly and most importantly, it says “the involvement of security personnel in the alleged incident lends a new, serious and dark dimension to the incidents of gangrape that are already on the rise in Pakistan.”

The opposition senators state that being an important public matter, it needs a discussion on the floor of the house adjourning the normal proceedings of the house. The motion has been signed by Opposition Leader in the Senate Raza Rabbani, PPP senators Farhatullah Khan Babar and Dr Safdar Abbasi, Balochistan National Party (BNP) Senator Sanaullah Baloch, Awami National Party (ANP) Senator Asfandyar Wali, Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) Senator Dr Amanullah Kanrani and PML-N Senator Ishaq Dar. Mr Amrohvi said the motion and the notice were expected to be submitted to the Senate secretariat on Thursday.

Re: Pakistani soldiers accused of rape…

This is pointless, I already made my point and I stick by it.. Im tired in engaging in these stupid we are better then you because we rape far less often then you do convesations…

Re: Pakistani soldiers accused of rape…

I agree with you. You must stick to your conclusions. Simple logics are against your ethics

Sorry, Is there a competition who rapes more and who rapes less? You are again abusing your Kashmiri sisters.

Re: Pakistani soldiers accused of rape...

Bitch and moan all you want anjie, you know the facts about Indian occupied Kshmir. I only deliver the news, you make of it what you want..

Re: Pakistani soldiers accused of rape...

Just take anything out of BBC with a grain of salt.

Re: Pakistani soldiers accused of rape…

Agree with you. Besides, where are the four male witness to the rape?? All lies to defame the great pakisatani army.

Re: Pakistani soldiers accused of rape...

I was at Pathan site the other day and one of the posters said that this area is patroled by Army men from Kashmir itself mostly.. So this was a crime agianst his own..
Dont know the validity of this though... Still, no reason to excuse the arse hole..

Re: Pakistani soldiers accused of rape...

Bad seeds in all societies. Cannot judge Pakistan or Pakistanis par se by such people. PP has an obvious anti Pak and anti Islamic agenda, higjlighting only the bad news. Such people are the real cancer...

Re: Pakistani soldiers accused of rape...

^hmm really??PP may have an anti-pak agenda (which i doubt), but how is it anti-islamic to point out that an atrocity has taken place? No muslim country in the world, including Pakistan, is a paragon of Islamic virtue, so then how is it anti-islamic? Must you smell treason at even the littlest of criticisms?

Re: Pakistani soldiers accused of rape…

Dope-Well said

Desinum1- whatever reason for your huge bias, at least try to show SOME objectivity

lbgoogly- what you say about PP is rubbish.

No one has done more damage to Pakistan throughout its history than Pak Army.
If Jinnah only knew how the so called ‘Defenders of Pakistan’ would use the guns people of Pakistan provide them, to lord over Pakistan, who knows if he would have still pushed for Pakistan. :frowning:

Re: Pakistani soldiers accused of rape...

Therealdeal, its not just army, all of our institutions who were supposed to be "serving"/"protecting" people are actually in control of our lives, they are the KINGS in our land :( (army, police, judiciary, parliament etc.)

Re: Pakistani soldiers accused of rape…

Oh come on…If I didnt bring this up someone else would have. The Indians you know relish this stuff.. Better we bring it up and discuss this then have someone else do it… What kind of hypocrits would be if after accusing India of all kinds of human rights violations, we choose to ignore the violations commited by our own army…

Re: Pakistani soldiers accused of rape…

I admit im some what anti-Islam, or precieved to be so, but im not on a crusade to wipe Islam off the face of Pakistan.. I have lot of respect for religous people and religoun, except when they use it to persecute and terrorize other people…
Im only point out the flaws that I see in Islam, and if someone has a problem with that, by all means, I welcome a debate…

Re: Pakistani soldiers accused of rape…

True, but no institution has had as large a role in the running/destruction of Pak as the Army.
