I can give couple of reasons.
1. Those who are sick of the system, corruption and limited opportunities and want a new life where you do not have to live on favours to survive and move foward.
2. Those who believe that for their hard work a first genaration migrants would provide better education, quality of life and prosperity for their children.

So why is it that when people from Pakistan come over to UK & forget their roots and backgrounds & reasons to why they have come here and then become wannabe's??

I would they are short sighted and partially immoral. I would think they should feel proud of their ancestry and roots and what they have achieved in your their own right in a totally new place. I feel what I have achieved has a lot to do with Pakistan, my family and the education I received. After that it is your hard work and good luck that takes you to the next level.
