Re: Paki dresses in Dubai
Gina I thought they dealt only with gul ahmed beddings...does chen one have gul ahmed textiles as well??? if u knw some other place as well can u suggest pls
There are a couple of shops in Sharjah that sell Pakistani Lawn, i'm not sure if they have Gul Ahmed prints though.
Gina,
im not too familiar with Sharjah but where is the old cinema?? and where are the shops?
i have to be honest, indian cloth makes me wanna throw up!! i so want to shop for Pakistani cloth too.
I once went into nearly every shop in Meena bazaar and asked if they sold material from Pakistan, this one shop i went into there were a few indian ladies and when i asked the question she said " oh we dont sell cloth from Pakistan cause no ones likes them and they have funny colour combination" i was like ’ i beg your pardon" have you actually seen clothes from Pakistan? once someone has worn material from Pakistan they will never like any other, and anyway all this material you have its exactly the same in every single shop i have been in, and to be honest this material i would probably use if only for dusting around the house:snooty:
^ I know what you mean. However there are a couple of Pakistani shops that sell semi-formals and lawns in Meena Bazar too.
In Sharjah the whole area behind the old cinema has material shops, mostly Indian too but there's one alley which has a few Pakistani shops. It's near the corniche..
Clothesmad u cannot say that all the material from pakistan is good...I have personally had problems with some of them which made me stop wearing pakistani lawns(not even fit for dusting the house..hehhehhhe....) thats the reason I am specifically looking for gul ahmeds...and the stuff from India comes out according to fashion thats why we get the same stuff in all the shops at one time.....
^ your right, im sure its not ALL fantastic, but in my experience theres more good than bad, so much more quality and choice, it just here every indian shop has the same damn sequines cloth, and if your looking for upmarket stuff......well i won't even start with the embroidery.
Anyway im not just talking about my own opinion here, i have a very good friend from Mumbai, who actually has done designing and was a dresser to some exclusive clients, even she agreed!!
She saw some suits i had done from PK a few years back (nothing designer) well she was falling over herself, she could not get over the embroidery, and forget the embroidery she could not get over the stitching..... i was like actually this is nothing special, you can get this stitching in like every gali !!!
Re: Paki dresses in Dubai
I agree pak stuff is good but seriously speaking it does not give us the right to D grade some other persons hard work right...it all depends on personal choice and preference...take the good leave the bad without critism thats all am trying to say...I am in the garments industry myself and i have seen pakistani ladies liking Indian clothes and vice versa.....agreed some people fall over for the pakistani stitching but there are also some religious minded people who dont like the fits and cuts..(no offence here) every place has its own pros and cons...if pakistan is known for its lawns,Indian silks are liked all over the world....Anyway I dont beleive in boasting just trying to say that take the good and leave the bad without hurting someone else`s sentiments
Re: Paki dresses in Dubai
continuing with the off topic talk. speaking about cloth only (as in cotton (lawns etc) and silks), it's well known that indian cloth is far superior to pakistani cloth. most of the good stuff in pak is imported from india, china or elsewhere.
^ Really? Majority of my Indian friends always ask me to bring back lawns/chiffon's for them everytime I go to Pakistan.
I've bought Indian material in the past, but I didn't like it much :(
few months back i was @ meena bazaar for GA lawn suits and some indian ladies were also there...she just touched the GA stuff and asked me with surprise "yeh lawn pk ki hai"?
i said yeah its from pak and i felt very proud and i bought four suits at once infront of her!!!
Re: Paki dresses in Dubai
Can anyone tel me wht wud be the best bargain price for an unstitched lawn suit..???
Re: Paki dresses in Dubai
*It would be of great help if someone could just tell the names of shops that sell Pakistani cloth material at meena bazar ..so it would be easier to locate them *

Re: Paki dresses in Dubai

Amir adnan is opp. lamcy plaza in oud mehta ...and his wife's outlet Fnk Asia is in Al Wasl Building on Al Wasl road , Jumeirah 1 and then Amir Adnan has another store in Sharjah ..at Mega Mall 2nd floor
Re: Paki dresses in Dubai
^ That one has closed down.. the only branch they have now is on Diyafah Road, close to Jumeirah. It's better to shop in Pakistan if you can..much more variety and better bargains/prices as well.
