now thats funny:hehe:
Yup Big mistake from Dish Network. They, in order to keep 61.5 (East Coast) just for HD channels only, came up with the new satellite Anik F3 118.7 for internationals. But the problem is Anik F3 is such a low powered satellite that not everyone can get. So I wouldn't be surprised if dish lost a lot of their international subscribers.
Nagra 3 would'nt be a big problem to crack. Coders want dish to play their cards. Once it's fully implemented they will bring out the crack. The reason only Pakistani channels so far are blacked out is because dish network security department has bunch of Indians. :)
so bro wuts the bottom line? do we purchase this 'super dish' or wait it out with dish network?
Get the super dish because dish did spend a lot of money on the new satellite and I don't think they will switch the channels back to the old satellite.
If you subscribe to dish network legally just give them a call and they will come to your house and give you a free upgrade to the new satellite.
This was a big nuisance for me but I lucked out by a thread. I feel sorry for all of you who have lost your channels. I live in the NorthEast. I got a letter back in November from Dish Network to get a free upgrade. They just removed most of the Pak channels in the last couple of weeks from satellite 61.5. Your only chance to keep getting these channels is if you can point Dish 500 ( not Super Dish ) at satellite 118.7. You need to have clear line of sight to it. Satellite 118.7 is located at about 240 degrees on the compass in the NorthEast. ( Satellite 61.5 is about 180 degrees ). These numbers will be different depending on your location in the U.S. This new satellite is also lower on the horizon ( which will make it more prone to any obstructions such as trees and buildings ). Here is the deal. Dish Network promises its subscribers a free install of the new dish. Your problem ( a big one ) is to make sure that you have clear line of sight to satellite 118.7 and you have a place where you can mount the dish. The installer that comes out is usually a local vendor/contractor. A lot depends on how good or friendly he is. Usually they are not.
My problem was that I live in a condominium and the homeowner association has strict rules as to where the dish can be mounted. I knew for sure that they would not let me install mine high on the siding as there are trees in the direction I needed to point to. So I asked the installer if I would get reception indoor through a second floor window. He tried. The signal was weak but we got reception until the window was closed. The glass cut out the reception. The installer asked me to get permission to install the dish outside. I didn’t want to deal with the nasty homeowner association or the management company. I spent a Saturday building a makeshift window pane with clear plastic sheet I got from Walmart in place of glass. I called the installer again. He refused to install the dish inside because according to him he didn’t want to waste his time. He didn’t care if I got my channels or not because he didn’t make much money from Dish Network on the install. I offered him rishwat and he agreed for $100. It was worth it for me and my family so I gladly paid the money. I think all international channels are supposed to move to 118.7 ultimately. Maybe the Indian channels will move next.
Didn't you hear anything from Dish Network before losing your channels? We were sent new 'Smart cards' for receivers a while back, otherwise we would have lost the programing too.
Its not liek they are paying dish for these channels! lol all the paid subscribers have new cards, operating at N3, amazing encryption, really.

Yeah, when I moved to my new house, the Dish installers told me that it wasnt advisable to get 61.5 and I got the new dish which has the three tribird sitting on it!

that's our problem. The guy came by. Said he can't install it since it's a heavier dish and it needs to point in the opposite direction of the current one. So he just left since he said he can't help us. Go figure! I think we'll have to move to a new home to get the new stupid dish! grrrr...

Re: Pakistani channels blocked out
Yep, DN is moving all channel to N3 eventually. For some reason, Pakistani channels were first to go. ![]()
This will effect FTA users only others will get a smart card and they’ll be fine.
We’ll have to wait till NagraVision3 is cracked. Since Europeans were the first one to crack N1 and N2, even they haven’t cracked N3 and if I’m not mistaken they have been on N3 for more than a year now.
