Ofcourse there needs to be a full investigation into why acid was left in a bottle on the dinner table! (was it deliberate or was it a mistake we don't know yet) ... and also why there was no hotel staff (or PCB staff for that matter who should be always with the players especially since are they are visually impaired) on hand to help or prevent such an incident from happening in the first place
Two cleaners have apparently been fired from their jobs.
A normal person CAN make out the difference between what is drinkable and what is not (most times) simply by looking at the liquid. But a visually impaired person can easily drink the wrong liquid placed in front of him
was it just a case of pure negligence? it's plausible ... no!

For your benefit, let me summarize
First, let me add my fresh conclusion after reading all links including dawn. Something is fishy. Someone appears to have done this deliberately.
Now read my post 61. I have called for a JOINT investigation withinvestigators from Pakistan invited as equal partners. The investigation should not stop at the low level employee who was fired. They need to determine who at the top was responsible. In other words, I want the truth to be found. If it leads to the very top, so be it.
What I find irresponsible is some senior members tiling up the crowd, asking for Test and one day teams to cancel tour and feedings frenzy BEFORE all facts are out. Using terms such as evil Indians ( and other terms I cant recall while I type) may be a popular strategy that connects with folks with a certain outlook. But it does unnecessary damage.
Injecting politics where there MAY be none is not the right path forward. Neither is sweeping this under the rug and letting the low level employee be the fall guy
Also I am not looking for proof beyond reasonable doubt. Because that would be impossible. Sufficient circumstantial evidence would be sufficient for me. If found guilty I want stiff sentences handed to whoever responsible. The higher up they are, stiffer the sentence.
And I would like monetary compensation made to the Pakistan captain in addition to sincere apology even if it was an accident.

he was not served "acid" in a glass as many of you were so eager to believe. phenyl is a standard household cleaner and is routinely kept in plastic bottles identical to water bottles. there are no details in any article that tell us exactly what the context was and exactly where this guy was sitting and exactly what was on the table, etc. i can think of a thousand scenarios in which a blind man happens upon such a bottle and takes a sip.
however there seems to be consensus that an accident is simply not a possible explanation. okay let's assume it was not an accident. therefore it was an attack? an attempt to poison him? does that really seem more plausible? and why? by whom? isn't it obvious that nobody would take more than a sip before spitting it out? does anyone want to answer these questions or is saying "accident not possible" a good enough answer?
the only way in which this could have been deliberate is if it was a prank by some cleaning boy at the hotel. very hard to believe given the consequences of losing a job for such people but let's assume it's true.....does anyone here really think it would be something to get angry at india or the BCCI about? amazing to see the reactions...one would think there was an attack like the one on the SL team in lahore.

@ captain I don't get your point about being an idealist when I suggested for an investigation into what went wrong. So what is the alternative? Do what some senior members suggested? Cancel the Test and one day series? What is your opinion on the sheep like behavior shown by most? And what is your solution?
Charges ( without an iota of proof) that the Indian cricket managent is responsible using the term evil are just plain ignorant. Calling such behavior childish would be too kind. And that is my opinion.

we have a bit of history and Pakistanis will always react emotionally whenever they will find something that goes against india especially against indian image because they "feel" that Indians and indian media have never given them a "benefit of doubt" and have "tarnished their image globally".... remember when indians published "pak army a rogue army" ads in prominent international journals after kargil war?... and you know it very well uncle jee that I am not citing these examples to score any point.....i used to do that but stopped doing that long time ago!...i am trying to put our reaction in perspective....
so all i am saying that Pakistan and Pakistanis feel that they have been on the receiving end of Indian media for last 15 years or so.... they feel that whatever the issue was... kargil war, attack on indian parliament, mumbai incidence, attack on sri lankan tea .... indian media used it against Pakistan..now we can always debate that Pakistan deserved that bashing but that is a separate debate
so sir jee remember one thing....NEVER EXPECT A NORMAL DEBATE BETWEEN PAKISTANIS ND INDIANS....we have history and it will always creep in no matter what the topic is...
Indians are Pakistanis are two twins who are tied with each other by an emotional string... so yes we can try to be unbiased but emotions will always play some role....
you will agree that indian media and indians on different forums would have reacted emotionally if a blind Indian captain was served with some sort of poison in the breakfast....

The irnoy is that during the Babri Masjid incident I got into a huge fight with a very close family person. The relationshop is badly fractured. Hence I get a bit hot under the collar when accused of bias etc.
I have not followed subcontinent situation too closely. Having been away for decades, I cant even identify with the attacking mentality on either side. Even though we fought in 65 and 71, there really was no hate. Maybe the Internet generation grew up in this toxic atmosphere. As I have mentioned before folks were genuine fans of each others ' players.
When I post here, I post as a member of the GS community. Not as an Indian trying to put down Pakistan or to defend India.
