Re: Pakistani Air Force commissions first women pilots (Merged)
Finally the 116 GDP course gets the wings. The two other girls were later transferred to the CAE as engineerig cadets due to lack of flying aptitude etc. Best luck to them as well as they will be the PAF’s first female aeronautical engineers. :k:
The second and so far last batch with female aviation cadets, the 117 GDP will pass out this fall.
About their being fighter pilots or transport pilots;
as per current PAF training SOPs passing out pilots are often selected for transoprt conversion or fighter coversion according to their CFT passing out credentials which determine their aptitude and suitability for combat or transport flying. Often, the decision is not taken at passing out and they are sent for Fighter Conversion to Mianwali and during the course it’s decided whether they are suited for combat flying or not. If not they are sent for Transport conversion to Chaklala. That does not mean trasnport flying requires less aptitude. it requires different aptitude.
About these girls, so far from the reports it seems they’ll be sent for fighter conversion. whether they’ll join a fighter squadron later on or not is still undecided.
Remember, PAF does not select ‘Fighter’ pilots, it selects ‘General Duty’ Pilots. So they reserve the right to decide according to standard procedures etc which pilot does what.
