Saeed Ajmal to Vitori, FOUR, dropped, an amateurish bit of fielding from Junaid, Vitori top-edged that one towards deep backward square leg, Junaid had to make some ground to his right to get to that, it is a stuttering effort to get there, stops as the ball lands a few yards away from him, comical if you aren’t a Pakistan fan, and that runs away for four
The reason - 'rest' - given for non-selection of Gul, Wahab and Tanvir Ahmed was absolutely pathetic
It is not like Pakistan play 12-15 tests per year like England, India or Australia. We barely play 5 or 6 (8-10 if we are lucky!)
I am all in favour of giving youngsters exposure but they should have picked atleast one from the trio. I knew Sohail Khan was useless..
Whether the pitch is really flat/dead (I think this is more a reflection of our inept/inexperienced bowling) we will know when Pak come out to bat. Do not be surprised if our batters struggle on the very same wicket!!
Huge concern is the fast bowling. Umar Gul has a poor test record and Wahab Riaz is not that special either. With Shoaib Akhter retiring, Asif's career already over, and Amir banned for another few years, the test match bowling is pretty scary when you think about it.
Sohail Khan is mediocre, Cheema and Tanvir Ahmed are in their 30s and will be taken apart by top quality batting line ups, and alarmingly, no one has the pace of Wasim, Waqar and Shoaib.
Think the PCB needs to start a hunt across the country and look for young pace bowlers, someone with serious pace, otherwise our bowling attack will be real mediocre at test level, and top batting teams like India, England, South Africa etc will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing our journeymen attack.
I dont mind him sticking around for a while as other 'try' to score around him. Its been ages that we have found some dependable batsman with test temperament warna tu sub 20/20 bal k 10/10 k balley baaaj heen...
Azhar Ali, love you dude, but you got to rotate the strike a bit more. You are slow as hell...
Yeah I have noticed that as well. Azhar as stickable as he is, struggles to rotate the strike!
^ For sure ... but I think flat pitch or not, toothless bowling attack or not, it is never easy when the opposing team has racked up almost 600, because the only team that can lose the game is you ... you still have to do the job!
