How long/often we’ll rely on our bowlers to bail us out
If 5-6 Batsmen can’t score 230-250 continuesly then that’s where Whatmore and company should do some soul searching

well you simply can’t go into a match with 5 batsmen - one of them horribly out of touch (Younis) - so effectively 4 batsmen plus one hit or miss bowling all-rounder (Afridi)
Besides one or two batsmen are bound to get a rough decision in every game like Umar Akmal got one today

Ideally need
6 solid batsmen
+
1 good all-rounder (like Imran, Razzaq) Afridi is simply not dependable with the bat. He can give you a quick 20-30 runs every now and then but he is not someone who can win you games from a position of 150/5 chasing 250+

wicket-keeper batsman (Sarfraz is no Moin)
+
2 good fast bowlers
+
1 good spinner
We are definitely lacking in the batting department

I think we were in the game up until Akmal's decision. I dont get that why couldn't we play an extra batsman in Hafeez's presence?

SL played well and deserved to win. Hota hai, it is one all so its all to play for. Pakistan will still come out on top, mark my words. Our batting is struggling but than so was SL's in the last match so no need to blow it away. Younis probably should be dropped. Isn't it amazing the one guy who stood up today is one we write off as "only a test match player". This same batting line up scored over 300 against India not long ago. So all is not lost.

The best thing about Azhar's innings was the Punching drives ..... boy the ball sped off the bat .... the moment he hit them he knew no need to run ..... hope he carries on the good form

In summary
1) **Played a batsman short in both games
**2) Rahat should not have played today. Needed a batsman. Don't need 6 bowlers, 5 are fine. Ajmal, Hafeez and Afridi are all consistent with the ball. What's the point of including another fast bowler who only bowls a few overs!
3) Afridi was caught by a stunner
4) **Akmal was not out
**5) Younis Khan needs to quit
6) Batting first we might post a decent total on the odd occasion but **I have serious doubts that Pakistan can chase 250+ against any side
**7) cannot afford to play 3 tuk tuk players (stabilizers) in the same team. should play only 2 from Younis, Misbah, Azhar and Asad. Misbah and Younis should not be occupying adjacent batting spots. They have cost Pakistan numerous times with their seeming lack of understanding of tackling the middle overs of an ODI innings.
8) Azhar batted well today but let's see how he does in the remaining games

Don't forget that was against India (arch rivalry, adrenaline effect), batting first and the final score was mainly courtesy of two players (Hafeez, Nasir Jamshed)
even in that game should have made 350 after the start given to us by the openers (i.e. the middle order did not perform as well as they should)
