Don’t forget that was against India (arch rivalry, adrenaline effect), batting first and the final score was mainly courtesy of two players (Hafeez, Nasir Jamshed)

even in that game should have made 350 after the start given to us by the openers (i.e. the middle order did not perform as well as they should)

When such a big score is made by two players the rest do get out trying to keep the momentum going. When the going is good it always seems the team will score more than they eventually do.
