over all very good performance by pakistan, especially shabbir
I don’t think we could have asked any more that that. It would all have been wrapped up by now if dozy Inzamam had given Shabbir a 3rd slip with the new ball in his hand but Ntini got 4 instead of being on his way.
A great performance in the field but the day belonged to Shabbir Ahmed who provided a classical display of new ball bowling constantly beating the bat with some absolute pearlers. I think Gul would have enjoyed bowling here as well but a damn good day nonetheless. We are in a great position to knock them over for 270 or less then score 400+ ourselves hopefully.
Well done lads ![]()

The only weak point was Mushy's bowling.

Well he bowled really well and troubled Gibbs and eventually got him out. and thatw as the most important wicket for Pakistan at that point.

13 overs for 48 runs and 1 wicket when you are one of the main strike bowler is hardly good bowling.
wat happened to shoib malik today? didnt take any wickets? surprising.......

In first spell he was unimpressive but in second spell h ewas spot on. Signs of improvement perhaps??? :D
very well done Pakistan :k:
Especially in absence of shoaib and sami.
I hope pakistan batting shows the maturity which they showed in first test. Good Luck Pakistan ![]()
Mashallah!
brilliant performance once again. Keep it up. Let's see what our batting lineup can do.
According to the scoreboard we only gave something like 6 extras in 90 overs. That's a pretty good indication of the disciplined bowling effort today.

Pretty crucial stage coming up right now. Whether we can restrict SA to 300 or less could well be decided right here. Kaneria can't keep bowling he's done 20 plus overs in a row. Shabbir should be brought back when he comes off.

300 eh? I was hoping they'd restrict the saffies to under 250, but 256 is good enough.

i was just going to mention that. Great discipline. I hope the other two S's try to emulate Shabbir and Co.
Considering Shoaib and Sami were out I’d say 256 is a bit better than good enough :k:
Wonderful bowling by Shabbir :k: I wanted Umar Gul ahead of Abdul Razzaq since we already have nice line of 7 batsmen but he got two wickets and wasn’t so expensive in the end … phew
Since they are down to tailenders I am sure they’ll be gone by 270 then we score at least to around 370 and then pressurize SA… I have now hopes of winning this match too ![]()
Nothing to take away from them. Bowling out S.Africa for 256 without your two main strike bowlers is quite a fantastic achievement. But when Pakistan had them tottering at 248/9, i was really hoping Shabbir would finish them off under 250. That would have been really sweeeeet, and I had my fingers crossed all the time!!

Very he good bowling and fielding performance by Pakistani kids today against the strong batting lineup. Only Gibbs was able to survive their onslaught. Boucher was also playing well but great ball from Razzaq undone his stumps. haan one thing for sure , i would have liked saqi playing in place of Mushi.
Catching (specially in slip area) was brillent.
Kallis (the crying baby) was again trying to get Danish involved in an incident when Danish got his wicket, he was running towards the slip fielders with joy and he accidentally brushed Kallis’s elbow and Kallis stopped and stared at Danish. 2 umpires came into play immediately and talked with Inzemam about that. I wonder where these umpires were when NEL and HALL were spitting their blood out on Shoaib Malik. Here is what Dean said right aways “oh come on, this (Danish) is not that kind of kid. He don’t get involved into controversies, he was enjoying his wicket and touched Kallis accidentally”
Now all Pakistani batsmen has to do is to play for 2 full day (6 sessions). Runs will come on automatically. If somehow Pakistan can gain the lead of 200+ in first inning there are very bright chances that we can send crying babies home in tears.

I think South Africa's grapes are really sour at the moment. Their fool proof plan of scoring 400+ in the absence of Akhtar backfired because of some good bowling by Shabbir, and some poor batting by S. Africa. I am sure they can't figure who they hate the most right now: Malik, Akhtar, Danish or Shabbir. Because everytime a single Pakistanis player takes the game away from them, they come back prepared for him but then someone else spoils the party for them. muhahahahahahahaha
In your face Graeme Smith. In your face.
**| Injuries Strike Us again | **
**South Africa captain Graeme Smith hit out at his side after a poor start to the second Test against Pakistan. **
The tourists slumped to 256-9 on the opening day, raising Pakistan’s hopes of their first home series victory against a major opponent since 1997.
**“It is close to my worst day I have had as a captain. Our performance was crap,” said Smith, who made just two. **
**“It has been a tough tour for me as captain. Every day there has been something new happening.” ** :hehe:
“The pitch had bounce and was helpful to the bowlers and they took advantage of it.”
South Africa only agreed to make the trip to Pakistan after a last-minute agreement to amend the schedule, overcoming safety fears over the city of Karachi.
Shabbir Ahmed was in little doubt as to his favourite wicket in a haul of 4-63 on his return to the side.
**“I enjoyed the wicket of Smith the most as he came here after scoring double hundreds in England,” said the fast bowler. **
Smith, 22, has scored just 140 runs in his last nine Test innings since record knocks of 277 and 259 in July.
Herschelle Gibbs was the one batsman in form, but he was dismissed two short of a century.
However, Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq’s job was made more difficult by further injuries and a bout of flu in the squad.
**All-rounder Shoaib Malik strained an abdominal muscle after bowling five overs while leg-spinner Danish Kaneria and all rounder Abdul Razzaq both had temperatures.
“They have flu and it is getting worse. They have been put on antibiotics and hopefully they’ll be much better when we bowl again,” Inzamam said.
Batsman Asim Kamal went for an elbow x-ray after being hit by a shot by Neil McKenzie while fielding at forward short leg but Inzamam said there was no fracture. **
The whole team is injured, all at once. Sab number laga kay injured ho rahay hain. hmmm... I think there's something fishy going on here.

Thats what i was thinking. We havent played with our full strength team with Bang and now SA. I just hope that there should be no injuries during NZ tour.
whooly cr@p . wats with all these injuries .. amazing thou that kaneria was still bowling so well . amazing spirit within the team . so many players are playing sick . shabbir was the key man this innings . this scenario is pretty much like the 1st test [a little better for us thou]. if we get them out for 260 or 270 . n score even if only around 350 then we're in gd position . i hope our batting clicks again esp. our openers
