in one dayers, i would go with Misbah but in tests, its an arbitrary choice and the way Faisal spanked warne and aussies in october, i have been his fan. Doesnt mean that Misbah is less talented :)
You nailed it ehsan bhai
:k:
I thought it was kind of low.

me tooo :p
This would be my team:
Taufiq Umar,
Imran Farhat
Yasir Hameed
Yousuf Youhana
Misbah ul Haq
Shoaib Malik
Moin Khan
Kaneria
Mohammad Sami
Shabbir Ahmad
Shoaib Akhtar
I'd play Shoaib Malik instead of two specialist spinners as without Inzimam our batting looks very inexperienced. Shoaib could bowl some off spin. The only other alternative would be to drop Shabbir and go for either Saqi or Mushy in an all out spin attack. I don't trust Saqi to deliver the goods any more, Mushy would be a much better option. Problem then is no 3rd seamer.

Agreed, the only change I would make is to play Mushy instead of Kaneria. I think Mushy is more experienced and therefore will be able to create more problems for the SA players. Also difficult decision whether to play Misbah or Faisal.
Both are tough choices, for me Kaneria turns the leg break a lot more and mixed with a top spinner looks the more dangerous bowler. Mushy has to translate county success into success at test level again. You could go with either one, it's six and two threes.
Misbah v Faisal is another tough choice. I can't go for Asim Kamal as I've never seen him play. Misbah played well yesterday but that was against the spinners, it will be a different game against the SA seamers. I still would go for him ahead of Faisal because for me Faisal doesn't look capable of building an innings. He keeps getting starts and then getting out for no good reason. At test level quick 30's are a waste of time you need players like Dravid who want big hundreds.
Kaneria was at loss of ideas when Bangladeshis attacked him and this was a negative sign on his part, i expect mushy to be more veratile in his bowling apprapch than Danish.

you all are forgoetting the re building the processs,,,
we need to give experience and confidence to youngsters,
its not matter or winning or loosing now...... it like making a good team for the next ,lets say 8-9 yearsss....
we need to include Kaneria and misbah in the team,, coz they show some promise...
Saqi and Mushi are waste... specially Saqi...
Mushy should be played if he can prove he is a more dangerous bowler. It might be too early yet but I'm convinced Kaneria will be the better bowler with a bit more experience. Mushy has plenty of variety but you don't necessarily need it. Shane Warne had two worthwhile deliveries, the leg break and dipping top-spinner and he was much more effective because both deliveries were lethal in combination.

I think Saby is right, for ODI we should keep Misbah while for tests we should keep Faisal, unless we wan't to use one batsman for both purposes than it becomes tough.
According to news in the press, Youhana is not happy with the selectors for excluding experienced Younis Khan as he was not consulted either.

His test record is much better than his ODI. Perhaps they should have played Misbah in Younis Khan's place for ODIs and kept Younis for test matches.

I suppose Andre Nel will be Hall's replacement.

Andre does have a nasty streak in him. During a provincial game against a team with Alan Donald (last year I think) he purposefully went for Alan's body and bowled him against the head just before some important match for the Proteas.
thanks PT.
seems like Aamir Sohail will vie to remove Youhana as well now ![]()

I pretty much like this line up given the pool we have… except I will play Mushy and Danish both … and drop either Shabir Ahmed or Malick … only Kristen and Smith are left handed batsmen in the line up … rest of the batting line up …Gibbs, Kallis, Boeta, Pollack, Boucher and Mckenzie all are right handed batsmen … and potentially more vulnerable to leg spin .. going by history of subcontinent, track will start spinning after two and half days of play combined with added factor of South African weakness (as compared to fast bowling which they are very capable of handling) it will be an advantage … This is a very aggressive bowling line up Samee, Shoaib, Danish and Mushy .. Malick and Farhat can provide some relief bowling .. medium fast bowlers like Shabir will not pose any challenge to strong and sound SA batting … Pakistan should play to its strength not weakness .. and that is by selecting the best bowling line available …
Why Tauqeer Zia cant understand that when everyone has something problem with AAMIR, why not remove him. There must be something wrong with AAMIR instead of with everyone else. ![]()
AAMIR is in a habbit announcing team without consulting with Captain and Coach and then when Pakistan lose, he blames “Management” right away on TV !
