End of the day’s play, SA 99-1, lead by 18 runs.
The commentators have been raving over Kaneria’s two overs where he had Herschell Gibbs groping like a drunk at balls spinning and bouncing 2 yds. I can’t understand why Mushy was given the ball after 12 overs yet we waited until the 29th to introduce Kaneria?
It was Kaneria who rocked the Saffies in the first innings while Mushy did F all. Good comeback by SA but we have only ourselves to blame. First dropping Gibbs who is now 50+ NO and then keeping one of our major weapons out of the attack until SA have put on a decent start.
Moronic captaincy IMO.

I think Kaneria isnt 100 percent fit and thats why he was introduced late in the attack.

I dont understand the policy of cricket board why they dont play the players when they are in full form .... I m taling about the keepers like when rashid was at the peak he was dropped and then Moin was dropped when he was at his best. But now both of them are dropping catches but both get chances to play but the youngster Kamran who is in a very good form with bat and gloves is being deprived.
Everybody in Pakistan cricket management is trying to work for their own not for the team.
Nice batting by Pak, whatever lead we had was very nice :k: but Moin ruined it

Of our current tailender lot, only Mushtaq Ahmed is a better bat so instead of bringing Sami or Shoaib they should bring Mushtaq to crease.
Bad luck Asim couldn’t finish his century and Shoaib couldn’t get his 50.
I wish Shoaib Akhtar can knock off some of SAffie batsmen before the game is over.

Get your facts straight, when Moin was dropped in 2001 he was horrible behind the stumps. And Rashid, though , isnt dropped was obviously tired and needed a break to recharge.
And Kamran Akmal is in good form with both bat and gloves?? Good joke. Fact remains the same, Rashid is Still the number one wicketkeeper and Moin is his best alternative possible. Screw rebuilding in this department and make use of boht of them while they can play.
Yes i m as much pissed as you at Moin dropping the catch, he could have done better on that occassion but i support his recall while Rashid is absent, its another thing that it has not paid off yet.

this match is actually very open and either side can win it - Boy oh Boy is Mushtaq Ahmed gonna play a part in this or what - with Paul Adams bagging 7 wickets and Danesh Kaneria 4 - this must be a dream pitch for spinners - Poor stuff really from South Africa - they are only just ahead now - they are effectively now level with Pakistan - and no Gary Kirsten - looks like Gibbs or Kallis is gonna have to come up with the goods.
Tough luck there for Asim Kamal - i hope his father’s health is good - poor guy kept thinking about his sick father than to get a hundred.

I was not criticising the performance of anyone and the fact is a fact. If you want to build a new team there is no need to get these old guys in. Look at the examples of Mark Waugh Zulu and Viv Richards. They were more fit and more in form than Rashid and Moin when their board decided to give a chance to young boys.
They should give Kamran Akmal a chance. He's a very good WK and a batsman. He's not experienced but he is good.
And I don't think he'd have dropped those catches that Moin/Rashid dropped.
Yeah calling back moin the biggest surprise that i have seen in Paki cricket...i real think Kamrana Akmal was a better choice...not only he is good for future but also he is much better keeper than Moin.
