not really, generally if pitch is dead it will be dead all over, not like disabling certain parts and enabling certain parts of it.

Actually if you look at the test stats

South African batsmen, all struggled apart from Amla and AB & just as badly (averaging < 40). The difference was we were more pathetic with the bat plus they had Steyn
