I managed to watch only the first 30 overs of Pakistan innings and it looked like they were playing very well. Shoaib Malik coming at the top of the order I thought was a very bad move on Woolmer's part but may be he wanted to try something new. And instead of Imran Farhat, Imran Nazir might have been a better selection but its a minor issue and depends on personal preference.
The running between the wickets was clumsy and dangerous, Yasir was taking too many chances and could have caused our side a precious early wicket, which is did when Shoaib Malik fell. Not only that but towards during the late 20's overs his batting had become perilous; he seemed insecure for a while. But obviously he played well as his total indicates.
Well what can you say about Inzi....He looked very good out there, playing his shots with total command and precision. But could you really expect anything less from our top batsmen, especially playing against Bangladesh? His first two 6s, in particular the second 6 that was taken off the knee, were exemplary and illustrative. His running between the wickets made me totally forget about how destructive he used to be. The strategic placement of ball for those 1s and 2s ensured a steady flow of runs.
However, to tell you the truth I wasn't wholly satisfied by his performance because I expected him to play the bigger shots. Like I noted earlier, Bangladesh doesn't have much of a cricket history or atleast at the ODI level compared to that of Pakistan. No offense but Bangladesh is a push over for Pakistan, like playing an ODI against u-17 ou u-19. Before going into the game and before the first ball was even bowled, I expected that Pakistan would put up a total of about 280 but just by watching Yasir and Inzi developing a partnership and people like Youhana and Razzaq just itching to hit the ball out of the park, I expected the total to exeed my expectation by 30 runs or more; a total of 300 plus. Was that too much to ask? I guess it was too much to ask. Since I only watched the first 30 over of the entire innings, I can't comment of what happened during the last 20 overs.
The last thing is that our bowlers continue to give away free runs in manner of wides and no-balls. While Bangali bowlers gave bowled 6 wides, ours did worse for a team of our standard; bowlers need some extra attention.
That being said, a win is a win. I am glad Pakistan won. I don't know much about Woolmer but from what I've read he is indeed very capable and I have complete faith in him.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL.
