Taskin Ahmed to Shahid Afridi, OUT, ahh, that’s a flamingo flick straight to the deep square leg fielder! Afridi had a chance at taking the fastest fifty by a Pakistani in T20 cricket. All he needed to do was dab a single. And this ball was a hard one to drag into the leg side - it was outside off - but Afridi is looking as many runs as he can and so he walks outside his crease, and across as well and then twirls his wrists. Somehow he puts enough power on the shot to carry to the man on the edge of the boundary

That would have been the fastest 50 for Pakistan in T20, currently it is with Umar Akmal against Aus.

So it seems this World T20 doesn't take too kindly to predictions. We thought Pakistan's batting was brittle. Now we look up at the scoreboard and see three scores of 49 or more and a total of 201. Mohammad Shehzad came into the tournament with questions over his ability to keep up a good strike-rate. He answered with 52 off 39 balls, and secured as many as 20 singles. That was an aspect of his game that always caused problems but today he did not get stuck at any point. Then Hafeez, after 70 in the warm-up game, came in and hit his stride straight away and finally Afridi the batsman made one of his rare appearances. He struck at 336 v Shakib, 300 v Al-Amin, 266 v Mashrafe, 200 v Sunny and 175 v Taskin.
