What we all are ignoring currently is that Umar Akmal took a single when 3 runs were required, he let a tail-ender face Morkel, Ajmal could've easily been out or unable to play him, Umar Akmal and we got lucky that Ajmal found the edge for 4.

I am sure a double would have been Umar's preferred option but it was also important to get as near to the SA total as possible. Umar probably felt that Pak could not lose it from that position. If he had not taken the single and then got out the next ball, some of us would still be cursing him.
There were three balls left and the gamble was worth it imo. If your tailenders cannot even score 2 runs off 3 balls then they should not be in the team. That being said I really had no hopes from Raza

Array bhai....ajmal has batted quite we'll in the past even in tests...plus UA had no choice 1 run is better than dot ball..and field being spread out...singles were always on..so all odds were that UA would get the strike back unless ajmal got bowled by a Yorker which morkel was not showing he was capable of.

A "specialist" batsman SHOULD not count on a tail-ender to finish it, that is IF he has trust in himself, that is how you make yourself count as dependable batsman.

Tail-enders occasionally play a good inning or two that does not mean a specialist batsman should leave 'finishing' for tailender. Singles were not always on, SA knew all Pakistan needed was singles so they brought most fielders closer fortunately none at slip.

^that reminds me…when I was watching the highlights on youtube…everytime Wasim Akram was criticizing Afridi, who ever uploaded the video kept switching it off and then on after it..hahaha…must have been huge Afridi fan
