Pakistan’s next series are against Windies (UAE) and Australia(away). They need to improve their ranking to no. 8 at least (Top 8 automatically qualify for next World Cup) otherwise they might have to pre-qualify (i.e. play with Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Ireland) which would be an embarrassment of sorts for a nation that won the world cup in 1992.

Even though we lost the series 4/1 there are many bright spots. Pakistan should stick to these youngsters.
Plenty of positives
Hassan Ali, Imad, Nawaz, Rizwan, Sharjeel, babar Azam. These must form our core moving forward along with Amir, Sarfraz and Azhar.
1st i thought Firdous Appa was his source, she indeed influnced the PCB during Mushy time and later Zardari time... but once her time was over...Malik is still in..

From what I know it goes beyond that.
Likes of Malik, Afridi play it on much bigger level. They have their lobbies working in and outside of PCB. It includes establishment powers, army elites, ex-players and also influential people like Malik Riaz, Mian Minsha etc. Or in nutshell people who actually rule the country.
I feel that only one of Imad or Nawaz should play in the final XI. Malik is a bits and pieces cricketer. Even Sarfraz himself is an all-rounder rather than a specialist batsman.
Need to play another batsman. Sohaib Maqsood or Umar Akmal (provided he sorts his brain out!) should be recalled for Windies ODI series in UAE
we lost 4-1 but overall i am actually OK. we scored 303, 275, 269, 248, so pretty decent scores on English pitches. so batting was not that bad. Imad looks like a genuine all-rounder.
bowling is actually a worry. both umar gul and wahab shd never play for pak for ODIs ever. Yasir is useless in ODIs as he lacks variation and he always needs time to settle down to bowl rhythmically. great for test mathes where he can bowl 30 overs but not so good for ODIs.
AA mir is only 40% of his full capabilities but he has class, so stick with him. will start delivering soon
Irfan poor lad is useless given his frame and fitness. So not looking good.
This new lad hassan seems OK but we need to test him more. In my books he is an "indian" bowler. good seam, some swing, some pace but very soon intentional players will figure him out, pace will go down, swing will disappear and he may become another bala jee!

I think we need a bowler who can be made a captain. None of our batsmen is capable of producing same bating results after becoming a captain.

Agree Sarfraz should be made ODI captain. Azhar can stay but only as a batsman; his captaincy is dull
In order to be consistently good in this format you need 2 or more solid batsmen and 3 or more impact or explosive players in your top 6.
The whole series Pak played with just three batsmen; Sharjeel, Azhar and Babar; followed by players pretending to be all rounders. That is just not good enough at this level. I do not consider Malik a specialist batsman. He was averaging a mere 28 in his last 18 games prior to yesterday's 77 (well played though). Sarfraz is also kind of an all rounder (wicket-keeper batsman). Then you are essentially into the pretenders/bits and pieces cricketers. Need To bring back a powerful hitter like Sohaib Maqsood or Umar Akmal in order to strengthen the batting. If you want to play both Imad and Nawaz, then play only 2 seamers, Amer and Hassan. Drop Gul/Wahab

agree. Umar akmal THE IDIOT can solve many of our problems as he can hit big when needed plus he can stop also but he is such an idiot. never learns from his mistakes. i will not bet on him. he has been given enough chances. shoaib maqssod looks useless too after so many chances
see guys, this is the problem. we have failed to produce one single world class player in last 10 years. players in pak these days just come and go. and they do get many chances...but after few good matches, they just fade. they simply dont have temperament to succeed at international level. when i point out this, folks get upset. tell me one single world class bastman, bowler, keeper or al rounder in last 10 years.

yasir Shah, you dont become no 1 bowler in the world unless you have something. Now please dont start that he only bowls in the subcontinent. He did well in UK as well.
